Time to dismantel US Government

Let's repeal the 17th amendment and RESTORE the US government to what it was meant to be.
How will disenfranchising Americans lead to stopping predatory Capitalism?

The american people were disenfranchised when the federal government took the power from the staes and gave it to themselves by way of the 17th amendment.
The 17th amendment stole power from the states and gave it to the federal government.
One example of what this led to are "unfunded mandates". When the senators were elected by the state assemblies it gave the states much more input into federal government policies and there were no unfunded mandates.
Capitalism is predatory by nature and always has been. When the people were disenfranchised by the 17th amendment, they became bigger chumps and targets for 'predatory' elements of capitalism.

The first ones on the Chopping block will be conservative company's and Talk Radio, like ClearOne

Sorry, that's the only source of truth left.

We need to hear both sides in order to make an informed choice and you want to get rid of the only watchdogs left.

Besides.....what does Talk Radio have to do with the government anyway?
This administration will find anyway they can to shut up the opposing view. It doesn't matter to them anything else. They want total control!

Bush and the Little Dick secured that when they manipulated through the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. Act

Oh, but you were for that!

No I wasn't for that smart ass. You assume because I'm against Marxist then I loved all that Bush did. You are wrong so what does that make you? Partisan Ass, yeah that's it.

I've never heard of that term before...."predatory Capitalism"

How about a predatory government that steals our earnings so they can buy votes.
No. Let's stick to predatory Capitalism. No deflections, if you please.

We have seen predatory Capitalism destroy the economy. Should it be stopped?

The power was taken from state governors and given to the people. I'm sorry you find that aspect of a democratic Republic so distasteful.

I think it should be regulated at the state and local level. I do not believe that capitalism by itself can destroy anything without the help of a much too powerful federal government. Return the power to the states that was intended for the states by the founders. If capitalism destroyed anything, they did it with the help of a overpowered federal government.

So all Wall Street transactions should be regulated by the New York state assembly? It would be easier to buy than Washington D.C.!

Come up with a reasonable answer, not just tying the hands of the one institution with the reach and power to effect real reform.

Thank you for your intelligent comments, I do respect your opinion and the clear way you express it. I do disagree with you, but that is part of what makes this nation strong- opposing opinions. Thank you.

The thing is with humans is that if there are no laws or rules specifically against a thing then humans will take the position that things not forbidden are acceptable.

The first really important societal rule a person learns is some things are a solid NO! Non! Nyet! La! Verboten!

As I stated before, thank you for your clear and polite debate. That means a lot. I see it opposite from the way you do. I think it harder to buy 50 state assemblies than to buy one all-powerful federal government.

But, for example, A.I.G. is not headquartered in Little Rock Arkansas. That makes Arkansas one less state assembly A.I.G. would have to buy in order to keep raping Americans of their economy. A.I.G. would have to buy Albany however. And maybe Albany is cheaper than Harrisburg, which would keep A.I.G. from putting an office in Pennsylvania.

You see, these huge predatory Capitalists cabals are not only national, but international in scope. A state government would have no jurisdiction regulating a multinational..

Point taken. I simply do not believe that it is up to the federal government to protect us from our own actions. Playing the stocks is one engaging in one's own actions.
Should the federal govt also protect us from the casinos? Personally I do think so. Returning to the topic of the thread, I don't want to see the govt dismantled, I want to see it restored.

Gee, I thought the Old U.S. Gov't was already dismantled or is that discombobulated?
So much to say, but I think it's an exercise in futility.

The actions we take in a casino are on our own time and dime. When companies make up something as nebulous as derivative swaps (thus creating their own casino), the stockholder has no say. The oversight from the responsible agencies is not there because the game is new and no regulations are there to prevent the danger.

Actually, there were regulations prohibiting the basics of derivative swaps. But they were expunged at the behest of deregulation driven Conservatives and the very firms that took our money and gambled with it! Thanks, deregulation!

You realize, of course, that regulations on the financial market were placed there to protect the American economy, not to dismantle it.

Gotta agree Calli. Govt needs to shrink big time.

Give power back to the States. Let them decide how to run their states without all the mandated unfunded Govt BS. I think folks would find the States could run things pretty well if they didn't have all the Govt interference they have now.

Govt entitlements need to go also. People need to take care of themselves and realize the Govt, i.e. taxpayers, aren't there to bail them out of their responsibilites.

Nice thought but it will never come to pass. Too many in this country have no problem taking the public largesse and don't give a rats ass where it comes from just so long as they receive it.

I have to agree with you on the regulation/deregulation of the markets. There was no excuse and these actions by our so-called leaders was wrong on every level.
