Those Voices Don't Speak For The Rest Of Us

Not one of those Dimocrats in the video are even remotely in President Reagan's league.

Especially Boney Frank. Some times when I see that creep I get a mental picture of him on his knees and elbows getting drilled by a twenty-something girly-man. And he probably has to pay the little queen too.

I really do think this current President blew it when he decided to sue his own fellow Amerians on behalf of the Mexican Government and Illegals. That really did convince many Independents that he was lost. I don't think he will ever be forgiven for that lawsuit. He turned off most reasonable Independents. It sure did change my opinion of the man permanently.

Quite correct.

Obama has lost the Independents - the very group who secured his election in the first place.

...right up until he was a Republican.

Yep...just following along with those people who hold politicians to what they were or what they did 30-40 some odd years ago.

Past performance does not guarantee future results.

But you guys keep running against Reagan and Bush. Let me know how that works out for you.

They certainly cannot run ON Obama - he is political poison these days, and appears quite happy to be throwing the entire party under the proverbial bus with his repeated self-inflicted gaffes...

I predicted Obama would be where he is now even before he was elected.

I based this prediction on the economic downturn being painful and prolonged.
The right wing media's influence on the people of America.
And the stupidity of a lot of Americans with their short memory and attention spans.

I was of course ridiculed for my prediction at the time, because everyone knew the economy was just adjusting and would bounce back in 6 months or so.

Not too many liberals laughing these days.

This video has exploded in popularity - people are yearning for a more reasoned and dare I say, "American" version of leadership...

The Reagan Myth gets funnier every day.

You mean the myth that he was out of touch and ruined the economy, creating prosperity merely by the illusion of borrowed money?
Yes, every day that myth becomes more and more ludicrous as we come to realize his greatness.
Recall that prior to Reagan the GOP was basically the party of Nixon and Rockefeller, big business Republicans strong on foreign affairs. Reagan brought in the Goldwater Republicans with their emphasis on small town middle American virtues and constitutional rights.
Reagan completely changed the terms of the debate.

Is this the same type lie that said clinton had a surplus when he left office?
Nice try but no, Clinton had a surplus in 1999 of 125.6 billion dollar and a 69 billion dollar surplus in 1998, something the Gipper never did.

History of Deficits and Surpluses In The United States

The alleged Clinton surplus is a myth. He balanced the budget by moving funds from social security which gave the appearance of a surplus.

I love it when you guys go on about "socialists and communists".

Since 2000, Republicans have been hard at work moving American jobs to China and India. They hate those "communist and socialist" countries. Except for the cheap labor. They like the cheap labor.

So, do Republicans call that, "Finding the "silver" lining"?

so this never happened during Clintons 8 years?......that old lunatic Ross Perot was right wasnt he, about if NAFTA is passed you will hear the sucking sound of jobs being sucked out of the country....and who signed NAFTA?.....

george hubert walker bush created the NAFTA treaty/trade agreement, clinton, before he was president, promised he would see NAFTA through if he became president, and if it passed a vote in congress, he would sign the bill....he campaigned saying such...

looking back on it, it seems like the big lobbies for NAFTA, must have gotten clinton to agree to signing it, for their financial support of his presidential run....

presidents are just puppets of those behind the curtain...scary...

Interesting...

Those of us who were born into a "different America" and grew up in that America can remember when she was a proud nation, had the respect of most of the world, and was looked up to. We were a free country. The feeling was almost palpable. We could be very proud to say we were Americans and could travel in safety to other countries without being booed, hissed and spat upon.

How badly we have fallen. But by staying informed, being vigilant, working together, it's possible to bring that America back, if not for ourselves, then for our children and grandchildren. Americans have a tendency to forget - let's hope the shameful, despotic performance of this administration will teach us to remember ... for a long, long time and keep us fighting back against tyranny.

Actually Reagan had proposed something sort of like NAFTA. And it was doubtless an old idea by then.
Do you have any support for the idea that Clinton was essentially bribed into supporting NAFTA, as opposed to the concept he thought it was a good idea?
Probably not. Merely practicing your well-rehearsed "seagull" method of posting: fly in, dump a load of crap, and fly out again.
Actually NAFTA has been very helpful, creating thousands of jobs, many more than were lost. This is why the unemployment rate was at record lows in the years following its passage and why trade with Mexico and Canada have soared.
But facts are stubborn things.

Most of our elected officials are now corporatists.
