The rich have not been "soaked", they have been coddled for a generation with tax cuts, financial deregulation, free passes to run Wall Street like a crooked mob casino, subservient politicians and the incredible luxury of a government that represents their interests and what has it gotten us? I mean all of us? Fair would be ceasing all trickle down programs immediately and taxing them into poverty as so many of their reckless business practices have led to for millions of Americans.

Indeed, corporations should be replaced with non profit social communes, for the people !!!

Hyperbole aside you cannot point to any gift we have ever given to the very rich that has actually trickled down to greater prosperity for all as it has been sold time after time. It's time to stop and tell the Chinese job creators to either suck it up and pay America back for our collective generosity or to actually make sure all this trickle down voodoo actually works as advertised.

Why is it more important to you to "punish" the rich than it is to help people?

Why should the rich keep the corporate welfare that was given to them in the form of Jr's tax cuts? We've seen that returning to Clinton era tax rates wouldn't affect the rich that much, they'd continue to make money and prosper.

Why should the middle class and poor keep paying for their tax cuts? It's almost like what Hostess did.................the workers took an 8 percent pay cut in order to fund the 35-75 percent pay HIKES for the CEO's, which is why Hostess went bankrupt.

Sorry...............vulture capitalism doesn't work so well when it comes to government.

I must admit that the Republicans are screwing up. I have heard Obama say we want to return to the good old days when Clinton was President dozens of times. Clinton passed the biggest tax increase in history in '94 without a single Republican vote. Bush then lowered taxes on all wage earners.

I say, let the Bush tax cuts expire, restore the largest tax increase in history and we will return to the good old days when Clinton was President.

The GOP has proposed phasing out deductions, which will result in more revenue to the gov't. But the Dums are fixated on rate hikes. Why? No reason. They will not produce mroe revenue. In fact they will likely produce less revenue. Certainly less revenue than would have been gained by the GOP proposal.

I agree the GOP will not and can not win the media war. They shouldn't even try. If they bent over and dropped trousers for the Dems the media would claim they were being mean and stingy. Screw them and do the right thing. No hikes in tax rates. Cuts in government spending. Ultimate showdown, let the sequestration kick in.

Obviously, you have no idea what trickle down economics is.

Wanna know why trickle down doesn't work? Look no farther than the water wars that happened in the mid 1900's between ranchers and farmers. If you use up all the water at the top, there is nothing left to trickle down.

Same thing with tax cuts for the wealthy. They're not going to spend that money (which would generate 1.63 for the economy if spent), they're going to sink it into savings and Wall St. investments (resulting in generating only 1.03 for the economy).

I say let the wealthy return to paying their fair share.

Our distribution of wealth is at pre 1929 levels. Wages have been stagnant for over 30 years.

Why do so many on the right seem to say " hail to the rich and down with the rest of us"?

My question is, if the top 1% keep taking more and more of the share of the nations wealth, at what point is enough enough? I've read where the top 1% own 40% of the wealth. Just what would happen if the top 1% in a few years would swing even more in the favor of the top 1% to where they would own 60% of the wealth? Not unimaginable. At what point would those on the right stop cheerleading the rich? When we have a society like the Victorian England that Charles Dickens wrote about? Like poorhouses and the age of consent at 12 so a young girl could bring home the bacon? I do know that the very wealthy would pay even more income taxes than the rest of us, which would give their defenders on the right the ability to complain about such an injustice.
