Third Parties Only Hope For America...

Surely, something can be done about this! The PEOPLE need to make their voices heard, and DEMAND that third parties be given a voice. It simply flies in the face of our Constitution, and the will of the people. We must continue to fight the system and when we raise our voices loud enough, we can see change. WHY AREN'T THIRD PARTIES ALLOWED A SEAT AT THE TABLE??? This question needs to be asked until the Republicrats acquiesce!!
Third Parties can't win, which is why almost no one cares.

People care, most people want Thrid parties, it's just that the media and others continually trash the idea. The Republican party was once a third party...essentially nudged out the Whigs.

The scary thought concerning American voters, is that they keep voting in Republicans, then Democrats, then Republicrats--for which they truly are. All the while, expecting a new and better result--this is the definition of insanity, folks. Voting for the same two parties which are effectively just ONE party with cosmetic touches. We are not going to see an improvement in our government until one of the third parties,(Green Party?) assumes a level of pre-eminence and is voted into power. We simply are NOT going to see CHANGE in government until a third party shakes things up, period.
I urge you to visit the Green Party website and check out what the party is all about-practical and necessary alternatives to the Republicrats that have sank our government.
I would never vote for the Green Party because for all intents and purposes they are Communists, but to your point, there is no hope for America because we are overrun with stupid, ignorant sheep and it's getting worse, not better.

Talk about ignorant!, dont fall for the agit-prop on the greens or any other third party. Jill Stein, the green party candidate was AGAINST Obama/Romney care.....they are NOT Communists.

The Constitution was not written with political parties in mind, much less for a third party to win an election. To make third parties part of American politics the Constitution would have to be amended.

It needs to be amended then. Rallying around this might just be a cause for a third party. Part of problem with existing third parties is they are mini-main partys in some ways....they are scared of hurting a main party in a lot of cases....they have to be willing to stab a close main party in the back. Greens cant be afraid of hurting a dems chances and libertarians and Constitutionalists cant be afraid of hurting the republicans.

Generally, third parties are of either a great idea or a great man party. If it's a great idea then one of the two major parties grabs off the idea as its own. Perhaps the end of slavery was a great idea, and grabbed by the Republican party? The only great-man party I come up with. was perhaps Teddy Roosevelt, and his Bull Moose party which failed. With only two parties voters have to accept a party that might only come close to their beliefs, and for some, Republicans in particular, coming close may not be good enough. The big-tent thing.

There are dozens of parties. Do you want to waste time on every fringe party with almost no chance of garnering so much as 0.0001% of the vote, or do you want to be as informed as possible on the candidates that are likely to actually be elected?

Most of the constitution needs to be amended.

It's not 1780!

The founding fathers are dead!

We have electric light!

TV!

Interstate Highways!

57 States and territories!

Indoor plumbing!

Blue tooth!

.

As much as I would love to see it, it ain't gonna happen.

Either we change the system under which these liars operate, or we just keep bending over and taking it.

1. Balanced Budget Amendment - Make both parties accountable for their taxing & spending ideas
2. Strict, short term limits - Does anyone really think these people would behave the way they do if they weren't worried about fundraising and re-election?
3. Publicly-funded elections - See #2

Remove the power from those who abuse it the most.

My weekly rant!

:rock:

.

Publicly funded elections would be a disaster. Look at the way the bureaucrats dole out healthcare at the VA. That's what happens when government runs things and even more self-serving power would be "managed" in elections.

I support what you're saying but the idea of a "third" party is not enough. What America needs more, in my opinion, is several strong independent parties. The Greens, from what I know about them, are maintaining their independence vigorously. Good on them. What you get with 3 independent parties is even a more entrenched core. Now, if you will, consider 5 or 6 independent parties. Now if you're a DEM, a REP, a GREEN, or a LIBERTARIAN, or, lets even include the TEA in that...you MUST form a coalition with the others to get anything accomplished. At this point, you have shared power that will, in theory, result in more diverse, better, and sustainable ideas being brought to the surface.

Three parties isn't enough. Having a minimum of five is what America needs.

If you don't like the idea of alternatives to the DEMS and REPS, the only other way to fix the mess is to, somehow, have the rules of governance changed to eliminate the shenanigans we currently see such as the opposition parties controlling Congress and no moving on work of the other parties--simply vetoing it for the President.

Or register for the party of your conscience and vote for the candidates you prefer. This is already happening, we just need to not let the stooges convince people otherwise.

Our system works best as a two party system. That is why we do not have more parties that are competitive. Third and fourth parties work in countries with parliamentary systems where two or more parties will unite to form a majority. Unless we are planning to change to a parliamentary system, we will always have two majority parties.

Jill Stein was against the ACA because it wasn't single payer. She wants Medicare for All.

Romneycare and Obamacare are class warfare and failures - Jill Stein for President

Yes, the Green Party is essentially communist.

As a Dem, I'd like to say that I'd rather have the GOP in charge rather than some crank-a-doodle-doos of some third party.

Really! The GOP is the reason workers in this country are screwed.

Not since your guy was put in charge 5 years ago. You can blame the initial decline on Bush and the Democrat House, but since then things have only gotten worse.

I used to think that until 2005 and then I noticed that in 2009 things got worse. There is nothing stopping a well-informed and focused alternative party structure caucusing with the major parties. It would breathe some well-needed life into a stagnating dichotomy. We need lots more Greens and Libertarians in Congress. The Tea Party is a good case study. Imagine how happy most of the far left would be if the Green Party were able to have that much sway in the Obama agenda?

Imagine the possibility of some Libertarians and some Greens backing up some Democrats in the House to repeal DOMA and legalize gay marriage nationwide, and then some Libertarians and some Democrats backing up some Republicans to pass the Keystone Pipeline?

This sort of craziness has happened before. The Republican Party started as a coalition of Whigs that didn't want to be mainstream Whigs (these are the Republicans that abolished slavery, btw).

Hi TADennis
I support the Libertarians Green and Tea Party uniting to ban political religions from being imposed on govt. And prove that the Democratic Party Platform is imposing its own political beliefs such as right to health care against the equal beliefs in Constitutional principles of natural laws and freedom for health care choices outside of govt.

Can the Greens under Ralph Nader and the Libertarians under Paul
and Tea Party Constitutionalists call for a Constitutional conference to
name issues that all people agree involve clashing political and religious beliefs
such as
* marriage laws
* abortion
* gun laws
* immigration
* health care
* death penalty
* research into stem cell, marijuana, and reparative therapy and spiritual healing
* restitution for rape, trafficking etc. that can be invested in reclaiming
ownership of communities, property and schools to become independent self-governing
districts to train minority leaders instead of depending on political parties
etc.

If parties agree to sue the Democrat Party for damages from unlawfully imposing a political religion by nationalizing health care against the beliefs of Constitutionalist,
this could be argued as conspiring to violate equal protections and civil rights
and demand the cost of damages to be paid back to set up separate health care systems
and to refrain from collecting money to campaign for office until all costs are repaid for repairing damages from unconstitutional legislation that discriminated against creed.

Yes, the Green Party is essentially communist.

Still dont make them communist....maybe realists

Something has to change in this country......the two party system is a failure...has led to the corruption we see in the public arena today.

Switzerland is an example of a nation with a national initiative option. We need that in this country to bypass the crooks in DC.

The only way this country is going to stop the mental decline of the voters is to advocate a 3rd party. Right now its more like a national sports championship. People vote because they feel they only have 2 options. As it stands I would never vote republican simply because I don't trust people that believe in trickle down economics. I also dont trust people that blatantly try to push racial division. Democrats at some point need to stop encouraging everyone to sleepwalk through life. The intentions are good but the outcome is a different reality. The mantra should be something like this. The individual has a personal responsibility to do what they can to become successful and lift others up to their level. Too much individualism and too much group think are bad methods of operation.

the 1980 gop was much different from 72 or 76. The 1992 dem party was different from the 1972 party, and frankly had Hart no imploded the dems would have won in 88. Parties adapt.

Boehner is terrified that bringing up anything on immigration will imperil regaining the senate.

there's a strain of hate on the right going back to the clintoninsanity. But, I really do believe the current "no compromise" comes from the core effect of BushII going a spending tax cutting binge that would make LBJ pale, and an elective war to boot. When leadership cannot be trusted, chaos ensues.

Nobody on the left ever acknowledges the Democrats' role in the divide. "We're going to stop Bush." "We won, get to the back of the bus."

The entire reason there is neither single payer nor the public option is because the Democrats didn't have the votes for it, period. And yet now that the ACA is showing real signs of melting down, the left blames the Republicans and even calls it a "Republican plan."
