Democrats are stuck; most of the 'insiders' they can 'trust' to cover the Party's criminal activities are all dirty and the not sellable to the public, and no decent 'outsider' would be caught dead running for them and their sociopathic treason and organized criminal operations. Trump has almost single-handedly shut down and destroyed any credibility their media shills once might have had, so they can't launch any expensive PR campaigns building up any candidate, that's automatically doomed to fail.

There are election integrity 'investigations' going back to at least the Bush/Cheney years with rumors of election fraud.

Trump goes full tin-foil and insists that its a 'rigged election', there were 3 to 5 million 'illegal votes' and that he actually won the popular vote.....something that republicans have actually managed to do just once in the last 30 years.

Point for point, Trump just dialed the conspiracy batshit to 11. And a conservative base primed to hate 'liberals', despise 'the media', and distrust science just gobbled it up. Now they are balls deep in hairbrained 'deep state' conspiracies, 'witch hunt' delusions and accepting that 'no' actually means 'yes', while 'would' really means 'wouldn't'.

I think the GOP took a page from the New Democratic party of the 70's. Formerly everything was a CIA conspiracy. Now maybe the GOPers are smoking better dope?
