What is a mandate?

If Obama won with 75% of the vote, does that mean that Republicans would stop blocking his programs?

Well they should
after all the US voter gave them the majority in the House, again,
to stop or at least slow up his most radical plans

If the voter returned a Democratic/leftist House
then he could feel or try to claim he had a mandate

What do you think a mandate is?

Obama is the President of the United States.

THAT is his mandate. He yields executive power for four more years. There are no restrictions on presidential powers based on popular vote. Do you actually think Republicans would be more cooperative if Obama won 75% of the vote? If Republicans do not think he has a mandate, try to get your agenda passed without Obamas concurrence

How much more of a mandate do you need?
Look, Skippy, it's no secret that you're desperate to be a subject of King Obama.

Normal people, however, wish to remain citizens, where the government works for US.

We get it. You want Obama to have unchecked, unlimited power. He does, too.

But it doesn't work that way.

The government does work for us....we proved that on Tuesday

It works for half of 'us', the rest will keep working and struggling until we collapse under the burden of supporting the 'us' who don't work because government works for them.

It worked for everyone

The other half got a chance to vote also

Is this a great country or what?

It is. But it's headed in the wrong direction.

Representative Democracy is not mob rule. Ideally, it Constitutionally limits government and prevents the 'will of the majority' from violating the rights of the minority. But our courts (and the people, to be fair) have allowed Constitutional protections to disintegrate. And now it is commonplace for Congress to pass laws that feed the worst impulses of majoritarian government.

Unfortunately, that amounts to more and more new laws that don't work for all of us. Even laws (and more often tax policies) deliberately aimed at targeting one group of people for the benefit of another. As our constitutional protections whither further, our political divide will grow ever more bitter.

When the party in power can do nearly anything they want, the party not in power has nearly everything to fear.

If rightwinger had said, "The Electoral College has spoken, and Obama was reelected", you'd have a point.

But he didn't. He said "The American people have spoken".

I corrected that false statement. Retards are bitterly clinging to it.

No mandate. Now stop your whining about it, boy.

Spoken like a true child.

He is not the worst President in history. Sorry I keep forgetting the MTV/iPad generation doesn't read books.

Indeed

No doubt, being the product of public schools with their union teachers,
the reading comprehension of the "MTV/iPad generational" must be
low.

Really, once they learn how to vote and the word Democrat
what more do they need ?

And a true extremist.

The bane of conservative dogma, where any compromise is ‘heresy.’

And on Wednesday, you dutifully lined up and waited for orders from the President.

Apparently, the first one was "Start claiming I have a mandate!"

He has just as much a right(or even more so) to claim a mandate and Political Capital as President Bush did in 2004. If the President wins Fla. his margin of victory will be 122, compared to a margin of 34 for Preisdent Bush over Sen. Kerry.
I never said Bush had a mandate.

I never said you did. I said that President Bush Claimed it was and that the Obama Administration has just as much right to claim one as well.
Then they're both wrong, aren't they?

On edit:

Did you expect me to say, "Oh, well, BUSH had a mandate, but Obama doesn't!!"?

:lmao:
