The world starves because of USA foreign aid

History Lesson:

1) Colonial Empires build agricultural infrastructure as well as dismantle traditional agriculture.

2) Colonial Empires leave/forced out. Poor Education of the new landowners* and government incompetence/corruption, as well as war over territory (in Africa tribe by tribe as Colonial policy was to divide and rule).

3) Mass starvation across Africa and the third world, no access to foreign markets, however local agricultural production was increasing to meet demand.

4) Western nations (US, EU and so on...) send food aid and undercut and charge less than local producers, which collapses the local production of agriculture.

Today:

Exponentially increasing population well exceeding the increase in agricultural production (and in some places that production is decreasing) with food aid and foreign food suppliers constantly undermining local production, also barring from western markets cripples economic development.

The food bank and the rest should be on the dock for Genocide, but people want to 'help' them more?

*If you want a good example take Mugabe's Zimbabwe, where his uneducated thugs took over farms from white and black Zimbabwean farmers.
White farmers where murdered and run out, the farms in place were left to lay fallow and starvation came.
It happened hundreds of times since the 50s ,insane.

Those two are wealthy enough to "give back" plenty, but they should do it willingly according to what they wish to "give." but we who are not so wealthy resent the government robbing us of our property without our consent as to where the loot will wind up. The two you mentioned surely don't believe that being robbed by a tyrannical government at the point of a gun for the benefit of total strangers is actually "giving."

Those of you who believe in taking other folks' property and redistributing it to the losers of the world are mean-spirited and uncaring of anyone who is successful through their own toil and effort and who wish to retain the fruit of their labor. We are not the greedy ones, it is you and your losers who are greedy for wanting the law to rob us for your benefit.

I am not a "liberal". Starving diseased children are not "losers".
Bill G and buffet are giving back? No .They are giving to support a political vision .Huntsman is giving it away to help people with cancer.

I just heard Gates speak for an hour on his foundation about a week ago. You REALLY do not know what you are talking about.

The idea of giving back is rubbish.
If B gates is not giving to promote his vision he is a little odd.
None of which has to do with the topic..
Federal foreign aid and its negative effect on our and other populations.

Not just white farmers, all farmers that weren't part of his regime. ;)

Oh hell long before mugabe the anti colonial movement of the mua mua the muslims waves they killed the oppressers and did nothing but revert to triblism.

Food stamps aint much better.

The solution:

In much of Africa and other impoverished areas where the land cannot sustain the population, reception of food and other aid will depend upon enrollment and sterilization.

It is the highest degree evil to knowing and willfully continue to bring children into the world knowing they will starve. We've been artificially inflating the population and encouraging them these people to breed, thereby making the problem worse. To receive aid, they must be required to undergo a procedure to ensure they will not contribute to the problem of an unsustainable population. Many regions simply cannot sustain a large population anymore.

No need to force sterilize people. Once they have access to birth control, they'll solve the problem themselves. Too bad the GOP thinks condoms are an abortificient.

Nor are they my problem.

Get off your fucking high horse. You're a perfect example of someone who goes through life with blinders on.

"Hurricane Katrina was so devastating that everyone in Qatar and the rest of the world felt a responsibility to really act," Mr. Khalifa said. More than 50 countries donated money, expertise and materials, according to a tally by Foreign Policy, a magazine published by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.

The cash-strapped city of New Orleans is turning to the rest of the world for help to rebuild as federal hurricane recovery dollars remain slow to flow.

Kenya Smith, director of intergovernmental relations for Mayor Ray Nagin, said city leaders are talking with more than five countries. He would not identify the countries, saying discussions were in the early stages. But he said the city is "very serious" about pursuing foreign help.

Of course...it isn't all about philanthropy
U.S. efforts to counter China's growing influence in the developing world are a likely casualty of the budget battles dominating Washington's politics, as chunks of the foreign aid program face the ax.

That could hurt not just the world's poor, but America's reach in emerging markets where China has ramped up investment and provided easy credit.
