The warmest year on record....so far

KUWAIT CITY, Jun. 21, 2010 (Xinhua News Agency) -- A wave of scorching heat in the past few days pushed the highest temperature in the desert state of Kuwait to the record high of 54 degrees Celsius.

The figure was recorded in Matraba, in the north of the oil- rich Gulf emirate, local daily Kuwait Times quoted a meteorologist as reporting Monday.

The report did not specify the date for that record heat, and said the highest figure previously registered was 51.3 degrees in 1998.

BIG DEAL!

Death Valley, July 1913, Furnace Creek Ranch the temperature hit 134 degrees F, that's 57 degrees C for the metric minded. It was a world record at the time. That has since been bested by two degrees at a weather station in Libya.

From the OP link..the article says the following...

Uh ok....No date for the record heat... So then how do they know its really a record? LOL

No complaints about that from me here in Maine.

It's nice to have a warm spring and summer for a change.

You stole our spring and summer. Yessirreeee...... that's it. Has nothing to do with warming or cooling, Portland, Maine took Portland, Oregon's spring and summer.

How about giving it back. We'll sue, Yessirreee......

It was our turn.

But we'll be more than happy to trade you our winter for yours, if that'll help.

So a 10PPM increase in CO2 causes a 1% increase in temperature?

So AGW proponents are endangering the world by exhaling.

Their only solution is obvious.

You're endangering the world with stupid comments. Why would we be endangering the world by exhaling? That's not an argument, that's just an O'Limbeck piece of red meat for the wingnut sheeple.

Good catch I missed that!

So wait, CO2 increased maybe 10PPM in the last year, are you saying that a 10PPM increase raises temperatures by at least 1 degree?

No. Temperature change is directly proportional to radiative forcing. But forcing is logarithmically related to the ratio of final to initial CO2 concentration.

In other words, you can't create a rule like that.

Except that it has also been conclusively proven that CO2 concentrations have followed increases in temperatures, rather than leading/causing them. Moreover, there are uncountable organic ecological processes which would mitigate the situation and seek to maintain an equilibrium.

In short, that Malthusian declinist dog don't hunt.

In the past maybe, but you can't use the past as a template for the future, if underlying conditions have changed. Like, humans putting 60-70 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere DAILY, more in a few days than all Earth's volcanoes emit in a year!

Right, this must be a mutant, genetically modified strain of CO2.

Even the Vostok Ice cores showed an 800 year lag with CO2 following warmth, why is this CO2 so darn different?
