In court, this guy asked the cop, "are you familiar with the Shire society" ?
The officer says yes.
Then the guy says that because he's a member of the Shire society, he doesn't have to abide by any US or state laws that he doesn't consent to.
His motion to the judge was denied, and he was convicted.
Ok... here's my commentary on that.
First of all, the Laws of the Country, State, County, City and District are superior to the code of the Shire Society or any other private club.
And any discrepancy between the rules of a PRIVATE club, and the laws the of Government, is a joke...
Its the laws of the Government, and NOT the rules of a private club which must be obeyed.
A private club does not have the legal authority to grant immunity from the law.
Here's an example....
Often, truck drivers are told by their employers to go "score some meth"....
The truck driver can obey his employer if he wants to... and then he can go to jail.
Its not the Government's problem that his employer told him to shoot up meth.
The truck driver has a legal obligation to get off the road, and get some sleep.
And if he gets fired for that, he can sue the trucking company and collect unemployment and have his employer arrested for telling him to use illegal drugs, and to drive under the influence of drugs.
That's the legal way to handle that.
The law of the land, is superior to a private organization.
