The PC Police Invade Local Supermarket!

It is PC when stores shade the covers of magazines that are on the regular aisle for all to see.

It is PC in Utah to shield the making of alcoholic drinks from the diners.

All of that is stupid.

addendum: bucs90, what years and which magazines were being covered, where were they placed. The government was probably very conservative, particularly if it were in GA.

No he isn't. Religious nutbags got the supermarket chain to cover up images of women in tight clothing because it upsets their sensitive nature.

That's got PC written all over it.

They did? LINK??? How do you know that's why they did it??

Silly nutter.

I'm just asking for the story. I wanna read about the crazy right wingers who forced that store to cover the magazines with scantily clad women on the front.

Please....lead me to the story on it. Or...did you just post a photo with no story at all and just said that's what happened?

It is well known, dummy. Supermarkets do this....or remove the mags altogether...when a customer complains that they are offended. Why don't you know this?

The only people who would co play about women in tight clothing are stuck up right wing weirdos.

Yes...I see they do it. But I wanna see where right wing nuts forced them to??

See...in high school...i worked at a grocery store down here. And we had to do it. A GOVERNMENT ordinance required any provocative material of a sexual nature had to be covered. Including magazines. Mostly applied to XXX store fronts and gas stations who sold porn.

So I have seen the GOVERNMENT make this restriction. But just random citizens coming in and forcing a private business to do it? Please link that.

It is private citizens making a complaint. A single complaint is all it takes. Some locations have them covered....some don't. It all hinges on a customer complaint. There is no government involvement.

Let me see if I can find any press on this for my local supermarket.

South Carolina. I moved to GA later. It was the late 80s. Playboy. Swimsuit edition type stuff. Yes...there are laws here about public displays of "vulgar" material. Rarely enforced these days. Probably wasn't back then either I can't recall in my 18 year old days. But it was a government mandate.

OK, then PC says PC comes from the left and right of government.

I agree with that.

The OP is confused about political correctness.

Bullshit. I have seen similar covers in this area...in hotbeds of right-wing extremism like Massachusetts and Rhode Island!
