This is a mysticism exchange about commerce-related 'values' in modern (and sane?) civilization inspired by The X-Files and It.
This exchange is between Shiva (Hindu god of destruction/meditation) and his 'dark-side counterpart' Shivo (a hypothetical 'contrary being').

SHIVO: It's a way to compensate for the fear of death!
SHIVA: No, I think there's more to it...like a curiosity about memory.
SHIVO: Memory is very fascinating, but without logic, there's no sanity!
SHIVA: Logic governs the laws of policy but not the phenomenon of illusions.
SHIVO: Are you suggesting that illusions are 'healthy' to entertain?
SHIVA: Some illusions (e.g., visions of angels or visiting muses) are inspiring!

SHIVA: Capitalism-theory is based on competition, so where's the spirit?
SHIVO: Competitive capitalism is ruthless politics, not 'spiritual experience.'
SHIVA: Really? Then why do people watch Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
SHIVO: Americans like game-shows, true, but they also watch horror-films!
SHIVA: There's nothing wrong with movies catering to paranoia, but courage is manly.
SHIVO: It's not that 'easy' to be courageous about capitalism in the face of 9/11.
SHIVA: How we endure the trials of terrorism and avarice reveals splendour!
SHIVO: I saw a trailer for a horror-film in which a psycho stands by the Lady of the Lake.
SHIVA: The Lady of the Lake is an Arthurian myth, and that horror-trailer is about Leatherface.
SHIVO: Are you implying that Leatherface is a delusion, while the Lady of the Lake is good?
SHIVA: 'Dualistic theories' about good and evil are basic, but the mind favors 'simple faith.'
SHIVO: I suppose simplicity is endearing, but remember that evil reminds us of labor!
SHIVA: I agree that labor-meditation is important, but so is purity-meditation.
SHIVO: I think you're a fan of The X-Files, Lord Shiva.
SHIVA: There go my daydreams of one day teaching at Yale with David Duchovny!
