I think overall we're way ahead of whoever is in 2nd Place, but the truth we USED TO BE #1 in almost EVERYTHING. That video to me is a wake-up call for those who have gotten comfortable with mediocrity. We're still good, basically, but we used to be GREAT!

It was scripted so I can't say I care... It had a piano for the "touching" moments and he honestly didn't answer the question. In the end he said we used to be great as if greed (the bad kind) and corruption did not exist, he did not say why greed (the bad kind) and corruption is so dominate today.

He tosses out a list of other countries that are free, but they are not, just as the US is not.

The only part I liked is that he called the Liberal and the Conservative out for something, a small something, but a something. But I don’t know where he is coming from… Does he think we were great because of free enterprise , free markets, free people…. Or because Government helped with the space race, or WW2 and FDR? I honestly don’t know. He also gave no time line, so when was this “before” period, like 1835, or like 1923?

Sure, liberals play like they are the elite smart even if they can’t figure out how to balance a budget or repeal a Bush policy, and sure Conservatives are full of shit by claiming America is great because we’re supposed to be cowboys… But giving me a list of stuff that I already know politicians are full of crap about does not tell me his position…

So I guess good for him, he can read a script and no one interrupts him and instead sits there like they just got owned… Yet he said nothing.

The show is called The Newsroom. I thought that first episode was pretty good, but I don't know where they are going to go with it.

The point is when taken individually the thinsg we claim make America great, we arent even number one in.

We are however number one in cancer survival rates, which is why cancer survival is always the stat those opposed to national health care quote. But other conditions? not so much.

I need to memorize that speech for when my in laws start in with their we're number 1 craziness.

BTW the entire first episode of The Newsroom is on YouTube. My wife and I watched it. Its not bad but its set a few years ago and its kind of a cheat in my opinion. Its REALLY easy to pretend you got the news right as it was happening several years after the fact. But it IS in my opinion how news should be done. Hard hitting take no prisoners get the facts dont allow for spin journalism.
