The Last Thing We Should Do Right Now: Rush Into A Government-run Health Care System

We've got 46,000,000 people in the United States without health coverage.
The FIRST thing we need to do is rush into a program of Government-run health care for everyone.

THEN, cut out the fat-cat corporate types,
starting with the American Medical Association,
which is nothing but a political lobby to keep life cushy for doctors!

Doctors even want single payer.

:eusa_liar:

Did you eat lead paint chips when you were a kid ? ...

Any one who has wants the government to take care of their medical needs has never been to a VA hospital or to the post office.

What is the rush to change our system? 40 million without healthcare? So let's change the system for the 40 million and to hell with the other 260 million? Personally I don't know anyone without healthcare insurance. And I understand those without just show up at the emergency rooms and sometimes they pay and sometimes they don't.

Life is about making decisions. Those without have decided they don't want to pay for it. I can live with that. Just leave my plan alone, I like it. I pay a monthly premium to an insurance company. Simple.

We should continue to make money off of sick people.

The sicker they are, the more they should have to pay.....until they go bankrupt and die.

It's the American Way.

What do you think health care will be free if nationalized? No, you will pay higher taxes and you will wait to death.

Come on don't you feel compassion on those 7 million illegals who don't have health insurance? Or the 12 million that could qualify for government programs already but are too stupid to sign up for assistance? Or maybe the millions who make over $50 k a year who turn down health insurance....

The SOCIALIST - believes that industries should be owned by the people of the nation, not by individuals, and that services like education and health care should be free for everyone. Under socialism, all means of production should be publicly owned. Unlike communists, socialists believe that such things can be achieved through pressure and reform.

46,000,000 people without health care coverage tend to drop off the grid. Terminally ill people usually die in their homes. It is a tremendous burden on the family. You may find some living under bridges, in tent cities, or in shelters.

My Uncle worked for the railroad, he used up his insurance while dying. Now he has nothing, and will die a renal death. If one in this thread complains about cost of coverage or socialism, I am going to track them down and shoot the useless moron in cold blood. Anyone unclear as to my priorities?

I have compassion -- but Obama should show compassion for us folks who take charge of our lives and work hard to pay our taxes.

Universal Health Care will take care of the 40 million -- Talk about the tail wagging the dog.

How about this plan -- 40 million Americans don't have enough to eat. So the government will control all the food and then give out equal allotments each week to all citizens. We may have to stand in line, we may have to eat what they give us, a loaf of bread may cost $25.00 because of the government waste and red tape, there may be shortages, but the politicians will have their own special supply and they will end up with more control over our lives.

Then we could do a similiar plan to eliminate unemployment, same with housing, same with transportation and clothing. Wait -- all this sounds like Cuba -- the country people are risking their lives to leave and come here where they have no health insurance.

Obviously you are a Socialist.....keep on dreaming the empty dream dude....

Of the 46,000,0000 people without health care....exactly how many died under bridges or in tent cities? ....or even without any care?
Come on....give me the figures man...

What do you mean your Uncle "used up" his insurance while dying? Did he exceed the million dollar limit? Either he had insurance or he didn't.....and being a railroad worker he probably had good insurance.......is he still alive?...and is he with nothing now?....no medical help whatsoever?....yarn me another one....or explain yourself

I'll complain about socialism all I want.....go ahead and try to shoot me.....

PS: Why is it always the "peace-loving liberals" that threaten violence?

Yes, and we drove on leaded gas too.

US doctors support universal health care - survey | Reuters

There are more articles if you need more. Perhaps Reuters is to LEEEBERAL for you?

PS. I heard another lie from one of you guys yesterday that I wanted to debunk. Yes single payer/universal/nationalized healthcare (whatever you want to call it) WILL initially get subsodies, but then it WILL run off premiums paid by the insured.

IT WILL NOT BE SUBSODIZED FOREVER. So stop lying.

You have compassion for the-people-that-matter. Obviously, you have had some education, and probably other advantages. Money pops up in your second paragraph, so you are probably Republican.

You seem to see working people as "the great unwashed," and you probably think you are better than everyone else because somewhere there is a family crest. It is nothing new to you to ride on the success of others, because you are a know-it-all with few talents.

You are very self-serving which means there is only one way to deal with you. You want to sit in the executive conference room, make decisions, run the world, and then pat yourself on the back for being a self-made man. You believe MONEY BEFORE PEOPLE. So, here is your big power conference room. Go jack off, you

I haven't really heard any alternatives to Obama's plan yet other than the status quo? And what's with the beating up of the post office? I bet everyone complaining about the post office uses it. Do you mail your bills via Fed Ex or UPS? I doubt it, but if you do, good for you. I think paying 44 cents to be able to mail something across the country is a pretty good bargain. In my entire life, there was only 1 time my mail was misdelivered.

But back to healthcare, I have good healthcare, but I still believe there is a problem. My premiums go up 10-20% every year, and my copays and deductibles go up as well. What are my choices? I can get another job, but who's to say my new employer wouldn't change their healthcare? I could go get insurance on my own, but then I'd pay 3-4 times as much as my current premiums, and if I would ever get really sick the insurance company would end my coverage anyway.

If you are uninsurred and actually need healthcare, you're pretty much ruined for the next 7 years. If I break my arm, the hospital charges my insurance company some amount, and the insurance company will only pay 30-50% of this amount. If an uninsurred person has the same ailment, they have to pay the full amount, usually thousands of dollars. Now if that person was uninsurred to begin with, its usually safe to assume their financial position didn't allow them to buy health insurance. Either they are unemployed or they work one or multiple part-time jobs that do not offer health insurance. It is not likely that person is going to be able to pay their bill, and most do not. The typical write-off rate of private payers is about 70%. If the person is able to get on their feet, their credit is basically ruined as all those hospital bills would be in collection. How productive to our economy is this? That person would not be able to get a car loan, mortgate, they may even have trouble renting a house if the landlord looks at credit history. And how is it right that the private payor, the person least able to pay, gets charged the most?

Ridiculously overpriced corporate health care is not that same thing as free market health care. I am not denying there are problems with the current system, I am just refuting that Obama's direction is the correct way to go.

Really? Then why are you supporting the people that are feeding off of the citizens of this nation? Free market health care is what we have now. And if you are fortunate enough to have an employer such a I have, it is a good thing, indeed. But if you are like most Americans, especially the old and very young, you are only somewhat better off than someone in a third world nation.

President Obama is trying his best to get at least some competition in our health care system. Oddly enough, one of the most vociferous groups seeking a government alternative to the for-profit health care organizations is a group of small businessmen, some of whom were featured in a front page article in the Idaho Statesman.

If you wish to put something on the table, other than "I don't like President Obama", have at it. Otherwise, we will just put you down as another sheep.

Damned stupid. We are paying twice as much per capita as the other industrialized nations, yet we have one of the lowest life expectencies, and highest infant mortality rates of the industrialized world. Were we paying the same as these nations, we would have money left over after covering the Americans that currently have no health care. Of course the CEOs of the HMOs would not be getting tens of millions per annum in bonuses for denying people with their insurance proper care.

The Charleston Gazette - West Virginia News and Sports - News - Rockefeller wants to cut private health insurance influence

On Thursday, Rockefeller admitted he expects little bipartisan support.

"There is a very small chance any Republicans will vote for this health-care plan. They were against Medicare and Medicaid . They voted against children's health insurance.

"We have a moral choice. This is a classic case of the good guys versus the bad guys. I know it is not political for me to say that," Rockefeller added.

"But do you want to be non-partisan and get nothing? Or do you want to be partisan and end up with a good health- care plan? That is the choice."

How about your railroad worker daddy, did you explain that? I didn't see an explaination for a clear fabrication..

Just last night I got a newsletter update from Campaign for Liberty, one of the forerunners of the current shift in American conscious back towards individual liberty, the free market principle, and constitutional government.

And you need to add to this a free market military. Don't wait, you have the guns, practice what you preach. Think of the freedom you will have with a free market military. You and your friends will be able to invade any country you like. You can maintain peace in Iraq, solve the complex power struggles in Afghanistan, and go after North Korea. So I suggest you petition government to get out military socialism too. Let us know when you plan on going to North Korea and I'll make sure we have lots of people waving you a fond adieu. Good luck by the way.

Reading your reply makes me wish I had as much compassion as you demonstrated -- LOL

So to show you some compassion I'll respond.
I don't have compassion for anyone. Period. You got that right.
I graduated high school. Is that what you mean by education?
All the advantages I have, I made for myself. Just takes hard work.
I am a registered republican.
I see working people as smart people and tax payers. I see work as man's salvation.
I do see myself as better than many people and equal to the rest.
What the hell is a family crest?
I do try to emulate the success of other people. Why reinvent the wheel.
Yes I do know a lot -- it comes from common sense I have been blessed with. I do have a lot of talents and I'm proud to say so.
What accomplishments do I have -- well I'm proud of the fact that I used to live from pay check to pay check and later, due to my talents I was financially able to retire at age 55 and have all the money I can use. Yeah, I love money. So what? That's why you work, right?
Yeah -- I am self made, did once set in a big office, did make important decisions, and made a lot of money. You should be so lucky.
You'll get a lot further in life if you put your energy towards making money rather that using crude and rude language.
I wish you luck. My advice to you: Look down the road to 5, 10 15, 20 years to plan your life. Don't just look forward to the next weekend, a six pack of beer, hanging with more loosers and telling each other why the world is screwed up :)

You should not be seen or associated with a "yellow dog Democrat."
You must keep up appearances!
