Right now the largest Native American PROTECT (not PROTEST) in history is happening in the Dakota’s. What’s going on? Well, the US Government is taking control of Native American lands and forcing them to allow oil developers to drill on their land and move oil via pipelines. From watching what happened with the Tar Sands of Canada, we can get a good glimpse at what the land will look like after they’re done with it.

unning through a similar pathway as that of the well known failed Keystone XL project, the Bakken Pipeline would run across the Ogallala aquifer and the Mississippi rivers through sovereign Native lands.

This is their proposed pipeline plans, to take natural resources from the US and sell them to Asian and European markets:

On September 3, the Dakota Access pipeline company attacked Native Americans with dogs and pepper spray as they protested against the $3.8 billion pipeline’s construction. If completed, the pipeline would carry about 500,000 barrels of crude per day from North Dakota’s Bakken oilfield to Illinois. The project has faced months of resistance from the Standing Rock Sioux tribe and members of nearly 100 more tribes from across the U.S. and Canada.

This is why immigrants have more rights than Indians.

It's all about the money. Immigration = money

Indians without power = money

Have not the Native Americans learned that the time has past where a few can hold onto vast amount of land just because? And no, the two pictures are not comparable to what will happen in the US. There is no where in the US this has happened and no one wishes for it to happen. Seems like you bitch should be directed at what Canada did.

This has been going on for sometime.

The natives at our local reservation have been gathering donations and relief supplies to send to them for the past month. The energy company and government have cut service and water to the protests in an effort to have them removed.

"Growing in number and spirit, the Standing Rock Sioux protest against the Dakota Access Pipeline is swiftly gaining strength ahead of a federal hearing on the controversial project. Support has spread across the country, and thousands have descended on the peaceful “prayer camps” in recent days, prompting state officials on Monday to remove the demonstrators’ drinking water supply.

North Dakota homeland security director Greg Wilz ordered the removal of state-owned trailers and water tanks from the protest encampment, despite the sweltering heat, because of alleged disorderly conduct, according to theBismarck Tribune, including reports of laser pointers aimed at surveillance aircraft."

Why is it that they are fighting something that could bring them economic security?

Why is it that they are fighting something that could bring them economic security?

Some people don't worship Mammon silly.

Those who worship Mammon got the message, "it's your money" and have become the members of the set of callous conservatism. Of course they have taken it to the extreme, and live by the code I've got mine, and I'll take whatever I want; might makes right.

People need to live and have a means to do so, silly. I guess that the Indian casinos are indication of the NA disdain for mammon.

I won't argue with you there. Still, is what the energy companies and the federal government doing for the natives, or for their share holders? Is it sustainable? Will it benefit all, or just a few?

What are the long term impacts? Do the folks do this even care? Who are we thinking about when we do this, ourselves, or our grandchildren? Are we being honest with ourselves?

Why do you think neo-liberal war mongers like Hillary wish to redraw the map in the middle east?

Do you honestly believe it is for "humanitarian" reasons? Don't tell me you are that stupid?

This time they are joined by many others, this time they have the support of many nations. Their prophecy has come to pass . . .

Our waters and air are much cleaner than they were when I was a young man. Progress and environmental protection can go hand in hand as the Alaskan pipeline clearly proves. The oil in the Alaskan pipeline benefits all of Alaska thanks to Sara Palin.

I live in an area where there are 5 gas/oil wells within a 10 mile radius that have been drilled in the last 5 or so years. Other than the appearance of the drill site it has done nothing but brought money and jobs into the area. Now there will be a plant built to take advantage of the new found resources.

Had none of that been done the area would have to rely on negative growth.
