that's not the same thing as welfare or "free money"... Alaska gets lots of oil revenue from leases and other agreements. They are "income rich" in that dept. So they issue dividends to the residents. It's a payment for use of THEIR LAND and resources.. Not a handout because they breathe.

They ARE masters of economics.. Giving great value on less tax revenues. That's why that's where folks moving to them.. And AWAY from debtor states like Cali and Illinois with increasing lousy public services..

But more importantly, you don't understand this Red/Blue State thing. It's an ARTIFACT of the relative "cost of living there".. Just like you can BARELY survive in NYC on $15/hour, but live like a KING in Louisiana on the same.

So -- they pay their federal income taxes on highly INFLATED local "Cali Dollars" (which looks to you like they are PAYING more) --- but they are receiving only "national average" benefits for education, infrastructure, other Federal funds.

THAT in economic analysis is a distortion caused by the IDIOCY of a Federal "One size fits all" system that doesn't account for the "cost of living".. Which can vary by as much as 3 to 1 between some states..

I cashed out in "Cali Dollars" about 13 years ago. Now spending that "funny money" in Tennessee. Just MULTIPLIED my standard of living by at LEAST 2 to 1 ratio....
