The future of the Republican Party depends on failure of the Health Care reform initiative. They cannot allow Obama to be successful, the table could tumble and their future as a party could be at stake.

Basically, the GOP is choosing Party over Country. They have no choice. The best case scenario for the GOP is for the Democrats to begin devouring themselves and Health Care initiative goes nowhere. That would be a victory for the Republican Party. The Party of No would win. Then everything could return to status quo and the American people will continue to pay through the nose.

It is something that certainly could happen, given the many extremes of the Democratic Party.

I am much less worried about Obama being "successful" or even percieved as successful. In fact, I dont care about Obama at all.

What Im worried about is the real death and burden that is going to be placed on this people if this bill passes. Worry more about the good of the country than Obama

Exactly! I am distressed about the billions of dollars of cuts to Medicaid - a program in which the elderly and disabled relies on to provide their health care.

Also, why do the Government place this atrocity on the backs of tax payers? I do not care if you are well off, but to have them fund this program with their hard-earned money, is total highway robbery.

I would call the Government's current plan for health care reform, "Socialism" at best.

I was arguing the same thing when Bush was spending through the nose for his war in Iraq. Then he left it out of the budget to conceal the real deficit he was creating.

The Iraq War was at least necessary and a proper expenditure. It also had a foreseeable end.
The health care boondoggle has only the bankruptcy of the US as its end.
To the OP: The GOP really can't stop it, they just dont have the numbers. The Dems can pass this thing all day long if they want to. The fact that they haven't, and continue to blame the GOP for this, tells you that the more rationals Dems see this turd for what it is. They cannot go back to their red state voters and tell them they voted to send them to jail for not buying a financial product.

You are so right. With American Republican support, Iraqis were able to slaughter their Christians and drive them out of the country. Maybe not all, but with Republican support, they got the majority. That was one problem solved.
AND,
the Iraqis were able to put a constitution in place making "Islam the National Religion" and put women back into burk-as under Sharia law. Yep, American Republicans were a real success.

Article 2:

First: Islam is the official religion of the State and it is a fundamental source of legislation:

A. No law that contradicts the established provisions of Islam may be established.

You are kidding, aren't you? The war was NOT necessary. The country of Irag was devided into three sections after Bush Senior won the Gult War. Saddam was cornered into on area and sanctions were strangling him. Iraq had nothing to do with 911. Even the most dedicated republicans agree with that. There were inspectors on the ground who could not find W's WMD, and as it turned out never did.

This was not a war of necessity, but rather a war of choice. The "Decider" made that choice.

Are you trying to say cons haven't been obstructing, smearing, whining about healthcare reform?

Were you alive back then, or is your memory failing? Saddam was doing everything he could to undermine sanctions. He was challenging the no fly zones. He continued to support terrorism. And he continued to violate UN resolutions, which is what led to the war.

Since the United States has the best healthcare in the world, aren't you beginning to wonder about real reason for this 'reform' full court press?

Wondering would be the beginning of understanding.

Oh, I was alive and I watched the White House fabricate and lie its way into a war that has made a lot of Republicans very, very rich. And that is why the Democrats reclaimed the WH and a super majority in Congress.

But I don't really blame poor old dumb Bush. He was just following Dick.

They fought Social Security
They fought Medicare
They fought Medicade

They have been on the wrong side of history on every social issue....why change their current losing streak?

Given that the motion passed the House overwhelmingly it must have been pretty convincing lying. Which Republicans became rich, btw, given that Wall St overwhelmingly voted Democratic?

NECESSARY and a PROPER EXPENDITURE?????? Based on WHAT, exactly? Does your Mommy work for a defense contractor or something?

On the fact that the Constitution of the US mentions it as a legitimate power of government. Certainly more so than some rinky dink insurance swindle now making its way through Congress.

Please tell me specifically which part of the Constitution mentions "it" as a legimate power of government? AND, if providing healthcare to US citizens too poor to afford it is so "rinky dink", how can it possibly compare to a police action in Iraq costing us BILLIONS of daolars we don't have, every single month?

the gop is on the wrong side of history for the billionth time
