I just thought this would be sort of a fun exercise , to see what party people think this is.

So that said then do you believe T that the Republican Party or Democrat Party is that party?

The Libertarian party--who else could it be??

Let me say this, I honestly don't think one party or the other represents that above. In fact while the Republican party has a few more of those than the Democrats do, the new version that has been in power is very hard to tell the difference when it comes to this free spending, debt crushing, large Govt. tax and spend version we have now. One thing that bothers me as well, you see the Stupak Amendment in the healthcare bill that limits abortion funding, and then you see the reaction as a result of it. The claims are it's limiting choice, well, what do you think those mandates do. In my humble opinion your either in favor of the 10th amendment or your not. Those are rights given to the people, and the Govt. should not be selective and should not be in the business of making laws taxing, spending, or regulating any personal matter of choice. This is why Si, I'm of the opinion that this nation is in desperate need of a viable 3rd party. Take for instance the healthcare debate in general, I have no issue with anyone who wants to advocate for low cost insurnace , but it seems rather silly to advocate for setting up a new department when A. we are in debt and B. we already have a department that does that, to do the same thing and cost even more money. That seems so irresponsible. to me..

Sounds like a good party, none that exist right at the moment, I take issue with a few of those things but small issues not worth talking about at the moment. I can guarantee that it's no where close to the Socialist er i mean um Democrat party we have in power at the moment.

I would say a Party that won't win elections because there is not near enough pandering.

I cannot disagree on both counts Ollie and Mtn., in fact and this is just a thought here, does the Republican Party or Democrat Party actually represent the majority of Americans anymore? Perhaps thats a better question.

With some minor adjustments for the times, the Democratic Repubican Party of Thomas Jefferson.

To be honest, if we were to have a serious third party, I doubt an party could capture the imaginations of 40% of the population.

Run offs could become a norm in most elections

Worst, how would the electoral college select a president?

I sort of thought Libertarian somewhat especially when it comes to empowerment part.
Me too, but the Libertarians are not so hot on defense spending or any social entitlement spending, if I'm not mistaken. I suspect there are some Libertarians here who could better comment.

I do like the fundamentals of the Libertarians but we part ways where I am in favor of certain government spending and certain growth, in fact. And, the fact that I accept the need for some entitlement programs (but please, please, do them efficiently and effectively) is another area where we part ways.
