very much in WW2.

But the USA/Britain and the Soviet Union dint like each other either.

Yet they were ableto work together to achieve the final victory.

Meanwhile - the Italians got in both sides ways.............

Interesting. I always thought of the Axis between the Euro Axis and the Japanese more as an attempt to surround the Soviet Union. None the less were there not subs which traded information between the two? And a Japanese sub which fired on the Brits during their battle with the Vichy over Madagascar?

What got ya thinking about the German/Japanese relationship? Ya wouldn't think the arian supremacists would like yellow ppl much I agree.

The Germans were just envious of Japan's Anime Comic books, and for getting the first Patent for Octoporn!

Germany and Japan were essentially involved in two different wars. What little cooperation that did exist was due to having common enemies in the US and GB. Hitler's disastrous decision to declare war against the US after learning of the Pearl Harbor attack provided a rationale for the US to devote 80% of its war effort to defeating Germany before turning its full attention to Japan.

Germany would have cleaned Japan's clock had the 2 nations fought.

Infinitely superior equipment and technology.

Hmmmm. On land in reasonable terrain I agree 100%.

In naval games I do not like taking the European nations against the U.S. or Japan. Think of what Japan did to the U.K. in the Indian Ocean. Germany's naval strategy was decent for raiding but really their auxillaries accomplished as much as their capital ships. Plus Germany (and for good reason), never even had one carrier.

More like the Nazis were envious of the Japanese's superiors skills in human torture and atrocities. People always look at the Nazis in horror but not the Japanese. How many people know the horrible things they did to people? Those victims would have considered the Nazis almost humane. What Unit 731 did alone is enough to chill the bones of any decent person. Sadly, many of the scientists involved with Unit 731 suffered no consequences and went on to successful post-war careers, partly because the information they gained in their "experiments" were of such value to U.S. biological warfare programs.

This is no endorsement of the Nazis, so calm down.

Both the Japanese and the Germans at that time were racists that believed their race was dominate. Nazis and the Japanese Imperialists were cut from the same cloth. They were diametrically opposed to anyone NOT like them, that is what these two powers HAD in common. It is interesting to speculate what would have happened if the Axis HAD won WWII. They would have eventually been torn apart and inevitably warred against each other. The UK and the US were on the same level, the USSR was not itself a racist regime, although a totalitarian one. The wild card in this was the Soviets.... Years after WWII the west almost went to war with them...What a hell of a wild card the Russians were to become.

Perhaps.

The main thing they held in common was a demonstration of the old adage of absolute power, especially when it comes to good old fashioned man's inhumanity to man.

I would like to mention the Japanese "Unit 731". The Japanese had been searching for biological weapons targeting race.. Just like the NAZIS were selecting to exterminate peoples because of their race.....The Japanese targeted Chinese and Europeans. They tested these weapons on Allied POW's of European ancestry. What if the Japanese had succeed in this? I keep that in mind every August when the anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima rolls around. The Japanese, like the Germans, were targeting race, we targeted them out of self preservation. What a surprise ol' Hitler would have had, had the Japanese actually gained such a weapon!

The A-Bomb droppings are a poor example of an otherwise valid point for discussion. Never heard anything about the interceptors the Enola Gay had to fight through to get on target. Japan was nothing but a stubborn beat fighter with divided opinions on how to give up or if to give up coming from his corner by then.

The Japanese and most Asians are STILL racists to the nth degree!

Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan had close military cooperation and in 1941, Germany pressed the Japanese government to attack British possessions in East Asia and the German Foreign Minister gave an assurance that Germany would join the Japanese government in case of war against the United States, which was why Hitler declared war on the US just days after Pearl Harbor without hesitation and it was part of his grandiose plan for world domination, pressuring Japan to act on it for some time and there was mutual admiration between Germany and Japan as the Japanese worshipped German culture and the Germans treated them as "honorary Aryans" and they only disagreed on the attack on the Soviet Union which ended up becoming Germany's Vietnam.

Let me remind everyone here: The Japanese DID initiate the conflict by attacking Pear Harbor. Because the US tried to stop the Japanese war in China in the late thirties by embargoing American Iron and oil. Keep that in mind here. THAT is really what started WW II.

And a pity it took us that long to get involved. Of course I say that with the benefit of hindsight. War weariness only two decades after the first world war has to be respected.

Also true the Japanese were just too dumb and fragmented to get on the shortwave and yell"we want to surrender!". Instead of making offers through Russia or whatever

I doubt Germany and Japan could have gotten at each other to fight anyway. Even if they both held on to the territories they occupied.

Look at a map.

I really doubt any of the fascist powers could have ever have learned to co exist with one another IF they had somehow won WII. It is more than likely they would have destroyed each other BECAUSE they held such racist contradictory supreemist beliefs. I find it almost comical, in a tragic way; anyone thinks the AXIS could have actually coexisted if they HAD defeated the allies. Just mind boggling.

Stalin and Hitler were two of a kind. They were both trying to outfox each other until Hitler broke the treaty and invaded Russia. Next thing you know Stalin and FDR were trying to outfox each other.
