People already DO like it. When asked separately about the provisions of the ACA, they like it, but when it's packaged as "Obamacare", they don't. Go figure...

So why didn't they just write a bill with those provisions, instead of the 2,000+ one?

I'll break it down. Imagine you have someone that likes lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and ranch dressing but have been led to believe "salad" is bad so they don't like salad. Get it?

Where your analogy fails is that with Obamacare it is like adding all those ingredients and then throwing in a couple of slugs (the mandate and free reign to raise taxes to cover the costs) for "flavor".

Obama said it was not a tax, the Supreme Court disaggreed . The Supreme Court won

Republicans said Obamacare was UnConstitutional. The Supreme Court said it was. The Supreme Court won

Obama said it wasn't a tax and he said it was. He said a mandate would be wrong and he said it was right. He said he was a single payer supporter and he said he never said that.

Fascinating insight into the Obama apologists' minds today. They only hear half of what Obama says.

Roberts and four dissenting justices accepted why the insurance mandate exceeded Congress’s power.

Roberts wrote.

“The individual mandate cannot be upheld as an exercise of Congress’s power under the Commerce Clause,” “That Clause authorizes Congress to regulate interstate commerce, not to order individuals to engage in it.” and “Allowing Congress to justify federal regulation by pointing to the effect of inaction on commerce would bring countless decisions an individual could potentially make within the scope of federal regulation, and — under the Government’s theory — empower Congress to make those decisions for him.”
