The democratic use of the impeachment process advances totalitarianism

How so?-- the clueless will ask.

Quite simply be demonstrating that any party that holds a majority in the house can impeach a president...and if that party controls the house and the senate then they can remove any president....thus forcing any President to realize he serves at the pleasure of congress which was never envisioned by our founding fathers.

The left-wing has a long love affair with totalitarianism....and that is what they want here in America....folks best wake up.

Not correct...

Yes, you are correct about the House but not the Senate...

You will need a 2/3rds vote in the Senate to Convict and Remove and that is not happening any time soon...

You don't need 2/3 vote of ALL senators to remove. You only need 2/3 of those who VOTE. So if quite a few of the no votes abstain or don't show up Trump could be removed without 2/3 of all senators voting to remove.

It appears the Republicans are united and I do not see any reason why any of them should defect.

Not defecting, just not voting.

True in theory
But you need 67 votes in the Senate
Never happen

Same difference.

And the Republican impeachment of Clinton was also "Totalitarianism"???
Clinton was guilty. That drug dealing murderer should have never made it out of Arkansas.

Clinton was arguably more fiscally Conservative than Trump, having played a role in balancing the budget & deficit, and in his Welfare reform.

All Trump has done is release hot air with his mouth, and spend a bunch of money.

Trump doesn't control the purse strings. The democratic house does.

I have never seen that one demonstrate any understanding of American gov.

Maybe not this time yet the possibility remains that at some point in the future some party may be able to have enough votes in both houses of Congress to control who will be president...thus nullyfying our electoral process and our freedoms.

With the current demographic trend I say it is inevitable. This current attempt is just setting the precedent by lowering the bar. Basically saying that a President can be impeached for practically any reason.

The democrat party has become unhinged but the totalitarianism part comes in when the mainstream media becomes the propaganda arm of a fake and unjust political agenda.

Trump should be in jail, having ripped off / paid less than minimum wage to his Polish construction worker (ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS) stealing from a fraudulent (VETERANS) charity, and for Trump University, among various other scandals.

Without President Trump, those workers would have had nothing. No, he stole nothing from anyone. You don't know truth from fiction, SSE. *yawn*

It is no different than the Repubs use of impeachment for Clinton.

Get a grip.

All those scandals and he still beat Hillary ?
She must have been pretty bad huh ?

Russia must have helped Trump win is the only possible explanation .:71:

The Republicans were massively stupid for impeaching Clinton. The difference is that the Democrats had the FBI and CIA spend three years making up a crime and then had the media try to sell it no questions asked. That isn't just stupid, that is messed up, and dangerous.

Very different Clinton actually committed a provable crime.

Also, the impeachment of Clinton was not a partisan thing --as in over 30 democrats voted to impeach Clinton and several Republicans broke ranks and voted to acquit him.

An impeachment effort primarily supported by the partisan foes of a president threatens to undermine the stability of the political system as a whole. If the president’s supporters remain largely unconvinced that an impeachment is warranted, then an impeachment effort would seem to be little more than a partisan effort to undo a legitimate election. If the people are to have confidence in the political system, they must at the very least have confidence that there will be a peaceful transfer of power when the incumbents lose an election and that the electoral losers will accept the electoral results and adopt the role of the loyal opposition until the next election. If the impeachment power is perceived to be little more than a partisan tool for undermining elected officials and overturning election results, then the value of elections for resolving our political disagreements is significantly reduced.
