The Confederate Statues/Flag - The Ultimate Participation Trophy

Just curious, has everyone forgotten the Civil War yet? It's been 8 months since the statues 'that just teach history' were taken down.

If you don't remember the Civil War no need to answer and for you I'll just say 'I'll be darned you may have been right'. For everyone else that tossed out this red herring...

Let's check back in a few months. Maybe it takes longer to forget stuff. You forgetters though, keep forgetting as you normally would.

There was a time when even crazy 19th century sissies acknowledged that statues represented heroes. Todays idiotic sissie nut cases think that Spider Man is real and star wars tributes to Spoc are legitimate. Go figure.

The emperor has no clothes !

The confederates were traitors to the United States. They killed 100,000 us troops . They tried to destroy the United States !

But people will fly the confederate BATTLE flag and still consider themselves patriotic Americans .

Actually they killed 350,000.

All these statues are just participation trophies for the South. As is the Confederate flag. "Yay we participated and lost." "It's ok snowflakes, you all win participation trophies! Yay! Here Johnny Reb you hold this losers flag. Bobby Sue you can put up your participation statues. You're all winners, good for you don't you feel better now!?"

:cool-45:
"How can we be dumb hicks when our ancestors literally created another country on our own?"

This is more just a case of idiots in the north having culture envy....

literally created a country that lasted literally 4 years

yeah, i'm green with envy, jethro

the flag we have now is a battle flag.

liberal friends enjoy burning it. i'm not quite sure why, i guess it's like throwing rocks and bottles at vietnam veterans.

a figment of your imagination?

yeah, probably

Really? After 8 years of Obama, I see a lot of them way up here in the cold, snowy North.

True story.

look outside your basement

I know no one reading this thread today will even know what it's about because all those statues of the Confederates were taken down so no one will remember the history of the Civil War (not that you'd even know what the words 'Civil War' means now since the history is gone ).

There was a great war fought in the Southern United States when that part of the country decided slavery was the hill they would die on. They would not give up their slaves because that would mean southerners had to go back to work. Perish the thought. So they raised an army and left the Union, well more like attempted to leave. They fired the first shots on Fort Sumter, a base of the US military. Traitors do such things. You see at that moment there weren't Union troops in the fort, they were just US soldiers. There was no Union, the South fired on The United States military.

Yada yada yada the South got it's brains bashed in and lost the war. The white flag is the true enduring flag of the South.

A little while later, the 1920s, (yeah 50 years after the Civil War ended), the South was feeling bad about being the losers and they didn't like the black people having rights and wanting to be treated as equals so the South and KKK started putting up all these statues to the traitors that fought against the United States in the Civil War. Even the ones that said they didn't want any statues of themselves like Robert E Lee, the losing general. And they portrayed these traitors as 'heroes' (their heroes fight against the US military) and put up countless statues to them.

These statues were in reality a way for racists to show blacks who was still in charge. And who wasn't. And that lasted for 90 years until people got tired of that bullshit and figured out these statues were just monuments to continuing racism. And the statues came down. But racists do not go gentle into the night. They whined and cried about their monuments to bigotry, lead by an orange dullard who's goal was to try to elevate racism to noble status and say some of the racists and Nazis 'were fine people'. But no one was fooled.

So here we are a year later and the Civil War is completely forgotten, the history is lost forever because fake statues of the losers of a war were removed from public view. It wasn't recorded in any history books and no historians study or remember the Civil War.

Actually that isn't true. It is the fake statues to false heroes that are being forgotten. They aren't there for children to walk by anymore so Jefferson Davis and Nathan Forrest are the ones being forgotten. Nathan who? Oh, nobody important.

I heard there was something called World War 2 as well but I'm sure it's just kids playing school games. How could there have been a war and there aren't statues to the losing side everywhere to tell us the history?

Books? Ha! Books are for suckers, who goes in for that book lernin'. I read a book once and it said some guy walked on water. Who would believe such a thing?

You don't get out to Arlington Cemetery anymore...do you?

Go to the Confederate section of the Cemetery. You'll find the tombstones
of those men with a Confederate Flag in front of it.

You guys ever been to Vicksburg?

I wonder what would have happened today if they dedicated Vicksburg NMP… Currently in Vicksburg they have essentially a shrine to each state’s contributions to the battle. Ohio doesn’t have a single shrine but rather one for each of their regiments as I recall.
Anyway, if you’re in Texas and you’ve “cut spending to the bone” would you pay to have this shrine built in a state where few Texans would ever visit? Or Iowa? Or Louisiana or Pennsylvania?

It’s really a great place to visit and understand the harrowing experience of the townspeople who (many if not most) had very little stake in the outcome.

When you jug heads talk about and thirst for the civil war you hope is around the corner, the lessons of Vicksburg should not be lost on you. Somehow, I think your ability to understand is miniscule.

I've been to Vixburg but probably not since I was a child.
It was boring, couldn't wait to get back on the road. But as a general rule that's how I find battle sites --- unspeakably boring. I just don't see the point.
