You got that right, you are "arrogant", and why do you think my daughter was there? Do you even think that we possibly may have lived there and had just moved and she was there for a reason, such as college? Could it be we have plenty of experience with hurricanes in the region, and elsewhere which is plagued with storms like Cuba? You make a lot of assumptions, please continue to do so, you are very good at it.

I don't need "assumptions". I have these things we call "experiences".

Obviously you were not here, or you wouldn't be as clueless about this event as you've shown. Maybe you should bring your daughter in for more enlightened opinions.
In any case the mindless myth that the Gulf Coast had "plenty of time to react" is slain, and we who were actually there and know what we're talking about will see that it stays that way.

You're a troll.. a new one but none the less a troll. You don't tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do regarding their children. BUTT OUT and worry about yourself Zombie.

No, I'm a Katrinite, and you're an illiterate. Nothing in this thread is about "children", ya dumb shit.

Why does EVERYTHING have to be about politics and "sides" now? Storms, shootings, cigarettes, sweet drinks, calories in school lunches, private property.. Notice how every single one of these issues involve LIBERALS sticking their nose in to something that is NONE of their business? Leftists are HELLBENT on destroying liberty.. They see their chance and they're taking it to fundamentally change America in to a Socialist SHITPILE.

This is actually a Pacific Northwesterner presuming to tell us Katrinites what we went through. I don't know if he's a "liberal" or what since I'm not dim enough to hang labels on people. So the nose-sticking is on his end. Go read the thread. Oh sorry, go learn to read and then read the thread.

It boggles my mind that somebody with such an inane "shoot first and figure out what's going on later" attitude actually walks around packing. That can't end well.

You have assumed a lot. You assumed I do not know about hurricane’s as you try and school me above on why states of emergency are issued, you assumed I did not have family and friends there I was in communication with many times a days preceding the storm.

You assume my only form of information is links today. You refer to me as a “zombie living vicariously through links” you assumed I did not know a lot. I not only followed the news I was in conversation in great detail with those friends and family before the storm hit.

I lost people I loved. I have every right to be angry at the slow response by Nagin and Blanco. I have my memories of the events just as you do too. I recall wondering if I would ever get her out in time. I recall many things to include the pain of those very dark days, I recall not even being able to drive through Vernon Parish because so many people were relocated up there. I recall the anger as I realized that many things could have been done differently.

No, I have assumed you were not there, and you just confirmed it, again. I'm sure you have memories but they're necessarily indirect and from a distance. I was right in it, directly. That makes Yours True, and OoPapaDoo too, more knowledgeable than you. We lived it.

You can recall all the anger you like, but I remember facts and details. And I won't allow mythmongering.

More assumptions on your part, my location has been the Pacific Northwest for the past 6 months. I am not a "Pacific Northernwesterner"as you claim. I happen to reside here at the moment since the military just moved us here.

Remember idioms about assumptions. //

You have no idea when I arrived in Vernon Parish and anywhere else I was for that matter.

Actually I do. It was obvious when I wrote post #77 where I corrected all that aimless crap you posted -- remember, the governor "not calling for federal help until after the storm hit"? That was even before you placed me just getting word "after the 28th" by which time I had already said I was evacuated. "After the 28th" would be the storm itself.

Clearly you have no clue, and that's already on the record. This isn't even close. I seriously doubt you've ever been to Vernon Parish, since you've made so much else up.

Actually I do. I knew that when I wrote post #77 where I corrected all that crap you posted from outer space. Remember, the governor "not calling for federal help until after the storm hit"? That was even before you placed me just getting word "after the 28th" by which time I had already said I was evacuated.

Whatever, you can continue to sit there and think the military does not have a base there,in Vernon Parish you can sit there with your arrogant posts and assume my child did not go to college in LA, you can assume and believe that you are the one who remembers it so well and you can contuinue to be wrong.

You left me no choice but to make that assumption since you got so many facts dead wrong (and demonstrably so) here....
- and even after correction got it wrong again here...
- and then repeated the same error in the next post -- it's like you weren't reading any responses at all. Not to mention the date debacle, which indicates the same thing. You're digging yourself a hole here.

... not to mention post 79 where you admitted "memory fails". Yeah I'm hip. Mine doesn't though; that's the benefit of the actual real experience of being in it.

Katrina killed that many people because Bush let American Citizens sit in rancid flood waters for 2 weeks.

While the Governor of Louisiana was where?

Oh, that's right - he fled the State.

Thanks

Yup.

Personally I lay the blame on the State and local authorities in LA. They dropped the ball even though Bush told them to declare it a disater three days before the Hurricane actually hit.

The Gov didn't do so and waited till it hit and the levees broke. She was an idiot as were all those in State Gov. The got their citizens killed by not issuing mandatory evacuation orders and not forcing folks to get out. They had 250 school busses that could have been used. Those same busses were left to be swept over by the water.

And where was the local support??

Who told folks to go to the football stadium?? The stadium they pretty much destroyed. Great bunch of folks in NO.

Bush and FEMA took the hit on Katrina but it was the State and Local authorities who fucked up. The Gov made sure she wasn't in the State and who knows where the rest of the State Gov was.

I know people who were in NO at the time. One of them worked at the jail and he said it was a war zone. People were being shot at and lots of carefully organized thefts. Some of the NOPD stayed but many left to get their families out. Not a good place to be.

Of course the citizens who stayed wasted no time in robbing every store they could get into. Many took food and water but far more took anything they could grab. Thieves one and all.

Nope. State and local Govt dropped the ball big time in LA and Bush and FEMA got the blame.

I've forgotten more than you'll ever know, and yes you ARE the idiot.

Massa Barak should step in and lead...but alas he can't...he isn't a leader.

Maybe you "forgot" how congress works?

Every person there is self interested. They advocate for their state.

If no one got anything..then nothing would pass.

And the country would fall apart.

You don't seem to know this.

The racist thing points out why..

Cause you're a fucking braindead idiot.

How's the trailer park tonight?

One of the DUMBEST statements ever... :cuckoo:

When the GOP is in power, Swallow condemns pork. When the dumbocrats are in power, Swallow try's desperately to justify pork.... If you're going to try to defend that which cannot be defended, at least put some effort behind it.

That statement also confirms that our leaders care more about themselves than they care about the people....but that's ok with the left as long as it's in their favor!

Jesus H Christ, do you listen to yourself? Do you even understand that you're contradicting yourself?

.

At some point people are going to realize that politicians are not special, they are not royalty, they don't deserve to be put on a pedestal any more than anyone else, and -- most of all -- they have no unique innate ability to legislate or govern. They get their "jobs" by shaking the right hands and saying the right thing at just the right time, and then they leverage their office to keep that "job". Why in the world we give them so much rope is an absolute mystery to me.

Term limits, Balanced Budget Amendment, publicly-funded elections. Take the power out of the hands of those who so abuse it.

Yeah exactly, except you're completely full of shit.

Once again, as already posted, as historical fact since 2005, the Governor asked for, and received, federal assistance on 8/27, two days before the storm hit, and the day it became clear it was coming. In other words both Kathleen Blanco and George W. Bush did their jobs (at that point). Whatever comic book you're reading seems to have missed that.

Bush didn't miss sending federal aid; he missed being a leader. He was partying at John McCain's birthday party, playing a guitar (G chord on the wrong fret) while 80% of New Orleans drowned. Bush didn't cause the flooding, neither did state or local government: the Army Corps of Engineers did. That's already been settled. Maybe the comic books you get your news from haven't heard that yet. Maybe it just doesn't sell as well. Maybe you just prefer to make shit up.

The governor certainly was in the state, throughout. I corrected WarriorBoy quite a ways back. Guess you missed that too. He also got her sex wrong but his head is so far up his ass it's a wonder he can type in the dark up there.

And no, the citizens who stayed behind didn't all become looters one and all. A few did, nobody I knew. It's obvious you don't have the foggiest fucking clue what you're talking about, but don't let that get in the way of your historical rewrite wank job where heroes and villains are determined by the letter after their name.

No, you're not entitled to make up your own facts. Grow up.

The difference between Katrina and Sandy was media coverage.

I dunno- there was plenty in both cases.

But at this point in time the difference is the degree of blatant lying about historical fact. Give Sandy seven years and we'll have a storm that was predicted for six months, Chris Christie was off travelling in Bhutan, the NYC subways never stopped running and carried half a million commuters to a watery grave; Obama was in Hawai`i, the entire population of Queens looted the entire state of Connecticut, and no one will remember Lydia Callis.

This guy is a disgrace to all of America... He cannot disappear from public life fast enough.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Hurricane Katrina was "nothing in comparison to what happened to the people in New York and New Jersey" from Hurricane Sandy. Katrina killed 1,833 people compared to 120 deaths from Sandy.

NOLA.com: Baton Rouge : Reid says Hurricane Katrina was 'nothing in comparison' to Sandy

Yes, I understand Senator Diaper was all upset about it.

For the record, the reason so many people died in Katrina was the incompetence of the Bush administration... as well and Gov. Landrie and Mayor Nagin (Just to be fair).

Sandy was worse because it hit a much more heavily populated area.

No one tried to hold up Katrina aid becaus of spite.

Let me be more specific.....

During Katrina the media was looking for any reason to be critical of the president.

During Sandy the media ignored the way the president made promises that he never intended to deliver. Sandy victims have been all but forgotten. Sandy Hook took precedence.

Sandy Hook was a bit later (Dec. 14).
But the media didn't have to look far for Bush's leadership failure; off partying with John McCain in Arizona while the city drowned, his HS Director not even aware the levees had breached until the day after, his FEMA Director admitting later "we had no plan"; contrast with O'bama who, having the advantage of hindsight from Bush's failures, was immediately on the case. Not lost on the (Republican) governor who acknowledged it. Sliiiightly different scenario there.

That's not because one is a Republican and one is a Democrat. It's just the way things happened.
