Opposing Authoritarian Ideological Fundamentalism.
A little surprising to see a left-leaning pundit finally hit on what has been my overall point since the elections of 2016: This moment in our history is far more about US than it is about any one person.

Beginning at about 21:52, he says, "The main question is not what the book says about Trump, but what the book implies about us."

He reminds the other pundits that, while they and political geeks across the country are focused on the minutiae of the various scandals, crimes, controversies and trials surrounding one guy, or even the condition of our very democracy, there is a large segment of the country that just cares about something else.

"For a plurality if not majority of the country, this is background noise. What matters more to them, and what will drive their vote, is their own condition, the condition of their families. The sense of whether things in the country are under control or not. Whether things around the world are under control or not. And right now, they are returning negative judgements on all of those questions, whether they be economic or international. And certainly, immigration. I wish everybody in the country cared about the maintenance of democracy and constitutional institutions as much as the people on this show do, but it's manifestly not the case."

And, bingo. We all have our own perspectives and priorities when voting, but it does appear that a large segment of our population is willing to hand more and more power and control to a small group of people for the reasons above. Let history be our judge, I guess.

Your OP ignores one simple overriding factor. THE U.S. Constitution.
The Framers built-in many "checks and balances" to protect the US democracy.

Even if the Biden admin's unknown puppeteers, the ones who write what Biden reads from the teleprompter, hire their 87,000 new IRS agents "willing to kill", the US military and the US law enforcement agencies, and the many State agencies would prevent a "shadow government" from taking control of the Federal government. Even if the democrats took control of the House and Senate with their new "replacement voters" and went along with the "shadow dictatorship" the country would not play along.

Mac1958 voted for biden in 2020

He has no business lecturing the rest of us over who we vote for

Here's a pretty good example.

On ONE hand (in this poll, anyway), 65% of voters say that Trump should not have immunity for possibly illegal actions he took while in office. YET, he leads with independents nationally.

Weird dichotomy on the surface. But it goes back to an individual's priorities when they vote. It's like the abortion issue: Yes, half of the country is pro choice, but is it their top priority when they vote? Not for most.

Personally, I've never voted for someone based on what they promised to do for ME. But clearly a lot of people do.

Later the same guy says this:

"According to a recent survey, one in five Americans who believe that Donald Trump in fact committed serious crimes, are nonetheless prepared to support him. For President. That's not an information gap. That's something else."

So I guess the questions might be, is that "something else" the feeling of loss of control, and is the "something else" a willingness to hand that control to an authoritarian figure, no matter what his personal traits and temperament may be?

"the same guy says"

So I guess the question might be, ''why waste bandwidth with this nonsense''?

The bigger picture is clear, Xiden and the demafasict admin have made the world less safe, America less safe, and a record number of americans worse off since taking office

They have also attacked our democracy with third world political tactics

We must remove them from power

And right now, they are returning negative judgements on all of those questions, whether they be economic or international

While blaming each other ,and not looking upwards Mac

This has been socially engineered, and for good reason.....

Any governance on this rock that has grown as much as ours since it's inception inherently assumes more control and by the nature of said control , offers less freedoms to it's constituency

This is very simple math most of us avoid , because we're complicit by proxy of voting in a failed system with the illusion of choice.

There is no difference betwix the brownshirts on the left vs the brownshirts on the right, in that big bro's jackboot will be on all our necks

Or as RR put it>

Absolutely. The survival of our country as a free country, with liberty and justice for all, probably depends on stopping the progressive liberal agenda, which is Marxist. MAGA

The framers did put checks and balances
Trump has attempted to circumvent them all

The framers arranged for a peaceful transition of power during transitions between Presidents. Trump is the only one to refuse.

Unwilling to accept a defeat from the voters, Trump launched a scheme to breed mistrust in our election, to create unfounded lies, substitute fake electors, pressure local election officials to overturn the will of the voters.

The bigger picture is not Biden nor Trump.

The bigger picture with God is "ALWAYs" Jerusalem and all of Israel, and the timing of God's purposes concerning them as to which leader He will chose for a time such as this.

Yeah, I don't buy the conspiracy stuff.

That goes to the point. They're willing to relinquish control -- even constitutional control -- for what they think will somehow make things better.

That's a pretty strong motivating force, and will let them forgive a lot.

1. You can say Trump tried to circumvent the checks and balances. Trump believed that the democrats cheated with many more mail-in ballots than would be expected and questioned the outcome. Ultimately "losing: by about 43,000 votes. A very close election, especially when Trump got more votes than in 2016. Call it "justified suspicion".

2. Biden's 81m "votes" is nothing more than cheating using mail-in ballots, which France disallows due to how easy it is to cheat.

3. Democrat cheating is what is breeding election mistrust.

God has moved on from that. God even allowed that, so he could use Trump at a latter date in the present/future.

God's focus is always Jerusalem and what needs to be done for his Word to be fulfilled and for the end times.

exactly what the patriot act was about, but did not Mac

Originally it was about government protecting the peeps, but turned into the government protecting itself from the peeps

some say that was America turning the corner, some point to events further back

but hey ,fascism is all about control

so you tell me who's been getting the upper hand
