He is a citizen like the rest of us he shares his opinion because he has a platform to do it from. What is likable about him is he toes no party line, while liberal in most instances he is not tied to political party propaganda. Some of his distress is caused by his state ( that like a few others states) have there heads in a unhealthy place

Bill Maher has always been solid Democrat liberal but now he is saying the party has been hijacked by insane people and he is praised by the opposition Republican party for speaking the truth about his party. So what is the future of the Democratic Party? Even liberals are tiring of the woke extremists.

Democrats in America, and Labourites in the UK have never been a full shilling. If there's a flaw in the human genes, it's called Leftism.

It has been a gradual process, but the left abandoned liberalism when it embraced identity politics. Identity politics is actually the most primitive form of politics since it is all based upon tribe.

Maher is a liberal, but the left now isn't.

I think it is well past time people stop using the terms liberal, left and democrat as if they are synonyms. They aren't.

Ron DeSantis is FAR more liberal than the Newsomes and Whitmers of the world.

That claim is the latest required meme on the Netrix, proving that those who control the Right are prep-school classmates of those who control the Left and don't want to offend them. People should have left Liberalism way back when Ronald Reagan did, when FDR died.

Indeed. He's always been a fraud except when he used to admit to being libertarian.. and never very funny either. He makes a good, timely point perhaps twice as often as a stopped clock. Anyone could do that. Vastly banal entertainment. Like watching Fox Noise or reading this forum. Drifting away to death.. Ignore the bastard. Find something better to do.

the (R)s of the past are almost extinct to what has taken over that party.

no longer does the concepts of 'compassionate conservatism' ... or 'smaller less intrusive gov'ment' apply. it started to change when reagan was elected; intertwining religion with political ideology.

remarkably, saint ronnie would be considered a liberal nowadays by the so called 'right' - with his anti assault weapons & reducing nuclear arms stances. his own son even thinks that reagan sr. would be freaking out at what his party has morphed into; that they are chock full of bad performance artists & cult members.

Neither party is what is used to be. Neither is terribly attractive overall, to say the least. It would be reasonable to imagine a third party that was more moderate, a party that engaged in original thinking and collaboration. Unfortunately our political "system" (ha) doesn't allow for it, and now those qualities have completely atrophied and calcified.

So we either choose to change the system, or we choose to allow the decay to continue. This is a pretty simple and clear choice.
