There's a bunch listed I've never seen because I never wanted to, some that shouldn't be on that list and a boatload more that aren't on the list. Like everything else in life it's a matter of personal taste.

The title at your link reads "The 50 most popular movies in history" NOT "The 50 Most Memorable Films Of All Time."

There is a big difference between popular and memorable. I've seen every movie on that list, and if ever I were asked which movie that I have seen is most memorable, not a single one of those would come to my mind. Don't get me wrong, they're all good... with the possible exceptions of Finding Nemo, Wall-E, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Shutter Island, Avatar, and The Prestige, all of which I would describe as tolerable and entertaining (except for Avatar which was just a muddled mess and a rip off of Dances with Wolves and Pocahontas) but not really memorable, at least not without some sort of prompt or qualifier attached to the question.

For me, if asked what movie I found most memorable, the hands down answer would be 1960's Inherit the Wind starring Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, Gene Kelley, Dick York and directed by Stanley Kramer ( Inherit the Wind (1960) - IMDb ).

I first saw it when I was in high school it changed my perspective on a few things as well as the way I thought about things. Something that influential is memorable. The movies on your linked list, not so much...

All of the Lord of the Rings and Star Wars are probably the best of all time for me. With the exception of the Return of the King ending. They drug that out way too long.

Jaws a classic. Clint Eastwood and John Wayne oldies. Then too.

Sometimes when you can't think of anything to watch you look at lists like these and you might be reminded of something you wouldn't mind seeing a again. That is really all they are good for.
