A Texas high school valedictorian secretly replaced her graduation speech to call attention to a recent anti-abortion law signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott (R). The speech she submitted to Lake Highlands High School ahead of Saturday's commencement ceremony focused on media consumption.

But on the day of the ceremony, Smith instead read from another set of prepared remarks that she had hidden in her bra. Smith told the audience that she was afraid that the so-called "heartbeat bill" could impact her future.

This is why there is hope for America's future.

Because of intelligent young people like that valedictorian, who are rejecting religious zealots, and will be future leaders that will overturn the ignorance that is religious and social conservatism.

Sure because everyone knows that killing children is the pinnacle of societal evolution.

Got it. If you convince yourself that you are somehow superior to the "other" than it is ok to lie to them and just do what you want.

Hey, remember when you people pretending to be unhappy because you said Trump was "divisive"?

Distant future, unfortunately.

It will take several decades before such laws hostile to privacy rights are repealed, or the courts again willing to recognize the right to privacy.

It's sad she couldn't give her real speech to the school and had to sneak her real speech in her bra.

Freedom of speech is only for those who say conservative beliefs are allowed in some places.

Unfortunately if she wants to have full control of her body with reproductive freedom she has to move from Texas.

She needs to move to a state that doesn't throw the constitution out the window to take away women's rights.

If I lived in Texas I sure would leave. I would even try to organize a movement to help women move from that backward and women hating state.
