Met Police commander Jim Stokley, who was also invited to speak at the meeting, said that handguns and shotguns were the weapons of choice and that 46 per cent of London’s gun crime discharges were gang-related.

He said: “We believe that a lot of it is associated with the drugs trade, and by that I mean people dealing drugs at street level and disagreements between different gangs.”

But analysis of the figures force by force, showed the full extent of the problem, with only one constabulary, Nottinghamshire, recording a reduction in violent offences.

Of the other forces, Durham Police recorded a 73 per cent rise; West Yorkshire was up 48 per cent; Avon and Somerset 45 per cent; Dorset 39 per cent and Warwickshire 37 per cent.

Elsewhere Humberside, South Yorkshire, Staffordshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Wiltshire and Dyfed Powys all saw violence rise by more than a quarter year on year.

In Great Britain were not murdered more than 2000 people with guns (if they had the same situation as in the USA) - it were only murdered 73 people with guns.

So if indeed the violence in GB grew on a astonishing new maximum (I do not have any serios German source for this) - then it is much more important to have strict weapon laws - more strict weapon laws - and much more strict weapon laws. And if the situation in the USA is on such a positive way, then it is not understandable, why anyone needs weapons at all.

Oh by the way. Your children in the USA still live in fear every day could a school shooter appear in their school. No one feels save in the USA any longer - not even children. That's one of the problems of the weapon politics which you propagate.

The weapon industry in the USA earns a lot of money - and the public security and social systems of the USA have the costs, which every company and citizen of the USA has to pay with tax. Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed.

Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa - widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries.

The figures comes on the day new Home Secretary Alan Johnson makes his first major speech on crime, promising to be tough on loutish behaviour.

The U.S. has a violence rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, Canada 935, Australia 920 and South Africa 1,609.

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Grayling said: 'This is a damning indictment of this government's comprehensive failure over more than a decade to tackle the deep rooted social problems in our society, and the knock on effect on crime and anti-social behaviour.

I doubt about that any "race" is more or less criminal than any other "race" although we make a lots of dumb - but funny - jokes in Germany about Poles, who steal something in our country.
