Teachers’ Unions Panic as Scott Walker Moves to Expand School Vouchers

March 25, 2013
By Daniel Greenfield

The entire teachers union-education complex rests on forcible taxpayer subsidies for a public school establishment that negotiates with the politicians it selects for huge benefits.

...

Governor Walker is moving slowly and proposing voucher reforms that align with what parents in specific areas want. As a survivor of the Battle of Madison, Scott Walker knows how manipulative Educrats are in using children as human shields. And the only defense against that tactic is parental involvement.

Like most parasites, the educracy is killing its host, draining insane amounts of money and demanding more. The situation has gotten bad enough that support for charter schools has become a mainstream liberal position. As liberals increasingly embrace charter schools as a hedge against the Educrats, it may be time for Republican governors to follow Scott Walker’s lead on school vouchers.

So is Governor Walker going to force private schools to accept all students who apply? Or will they be able to reject poor performing students who will be stuck in the public system. The reason private schools outperform the public schools is because the public schools cannot turn away kids who under perform. It amazes me how few people understand this.

Why should he force them? If parents want their kids to be accepted in better schools, they need to work with them and help them prepare, which they should be doing anyway. Doesn't matter if the child attends public or private school. If parents don't discipline the child and prepare them by teaching them basics, the child will be behind others.

You can't make people equal no matter what. The thing is, parents should have choices and do what they feel is best for their child. Fuck the teachers unions, who like other public unions, suck the tax payers dry and it's never enough. How can we sustain such hefty benefits and cushy retirements in the long run? Unions do nothing but take in big dues and use them on elections.
