Chances are pretty good that the Trumpster, as a “master” of deflection, had someone release his 2005 tax returns to……..of course, deflect from the upcoming investigations on Trump’s ties to Russian oligarchs (and/or, China’s banks)….
Two issues to be kept in mind:
First, a congressional committee CAN subpoenaed the IRS to release any and all tax returns if there is plausible suspicion that someone with financial ties to a foreign entity may be beholden from performing tasks to benefit the US and not him or herself……especially someone as POTUS.
Second, Johnston and Maddow are FULLY exempt from any liability in releasing those 2005 returns since they received them from an anonymous source, not solicited them AND because they are under the umbrella of “freedom of the press.”
Most likely, as mentioned, this is yet a ruse by the Trump team to divert attention from the tsunami that’s about to hit them after the fill investigative powers are unleashed, and republicans in congress who think that they can “protect” Trump, may be committing political suicide.
