I watched that video and it was a lot of absolute hooey.

To begin with, it is an inaccurate and dishonest statement when people start out with the words "illegal immigrants" or "illegal aliens." Guest workers that enter the United States without paperwork are not criminals. To even try and make an argument against that reality is to attack the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution itself.

Next point, as that article points out, the foreigners get a Taxpayer Identification Number and pay the tax. The newscasters start out using that "illegals" manure in a overt attempt to incite class warfare. One wonders why they don't tell you that the 16th Amendment was illegally ratified and is a plank from the Communist Manifesto?

If undocumented immigrants bring down the IRS, I really don't care how many dependents they claim. OTOH, while entering nor being in the U.S. is not a crime, when people volunteer for the income tax and then lie about the number of dependents they have, that is a federal crime and the response to that is to crack down on people lying on their taxes. Forget calling them names and shooting yourself in the foot, concentrate on the taxes if that is the real issue. Maybe you should think about getting involved in the effort to bring the IRS and the fraudulent income tax to an end.

I go beyond that one story. I'm a newbie here, so this site will not allow me to post the url to an article that came out in 2008 while I was researching this issue. Here is an excerpt from that article:

"In Massachusetts 39,221 ITIN holders filed taxes for the 2006 tax year, up 20 percent from the previous year. Nationally, more than 2.1 million such taxpayers filed in the 2005 tax year, the most recent year available, up nearly 37 percent from the year before."

That, I discovered was a national trend. The story gives part of the reason why this was / is happening:

"But a US Senate proposal in 2006 would have required illegal immigrants to pay back taxes as part of their application for legal residency, fueling the hopes of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in this country."

1) Title 8 is in a CIVIL section of the United States Code

2) Violations of Title 8 USC 1325 involving Improper Entry are taken up in a CIVIL proceeding not a criminal court.

"Aliens in removal proceedings have no right to counsel, including Government-appointed
counsel, under the Sixth Amendment of the Constitution because the Sixth Amendment
applies only to criminal proceedings and removal proceedings are civil in nature."

That is an actual RULING by the highest ranking immigration official in the United States on a Title 8 USC 1325 detainment and deportation.
