Apparently McCain addressed this in the senate earlier.
^My comment.
US concludes Syria?s Assad?s used chemical weapons on opposition, crossing Obama ?red line? - The Washington Post

WASHINGTON — The United States has conclusive evidence that Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime has used chemical weapons against opposition forces seeking to overthrow the government, crossing what President Barack Obama has called a “red line” that would trigger greater American involvement in the crisis, the White House said Thursday.

Officials said Obama was considering both political and military options, but suggested deeper involvement may not be imminent.

Yeah so what we all know neither the U.S or any other western power is going to get involved in Syria in any major way we walked away from Syria a long time ago there's no way we will get involved now.

In a sharp escalation of the U.S. role in Syria's bloody civil war, the White House announced late Thursday that it will provide military aid to rebels fighting to topple President Bashar al-Assad after confirming that his government used chemical weapons on the opposition.

Deputy National Security Advisor For Strategic Communications Ben Rhodes told reporters on a conference call that President Barack Obama had heard pleas from Syria's rebel Supreme Military Council (SMC) for more help. "Our aim is to be responsive," Rhodes said, underlining that the new assistance would have "direct military purposes."

"The president has made a decision about providing more support to the opposition. That will involve providing direct support to the SMC. That includes military support. I cannot detail for you all of the types of that support for a variety of reasons," Rhodes said. The assistance is "aimed at strengthening the effectiveness of the SMC on the ground."

Obama reached the decision after America's intelligence community concluded that "the Assad regime has used chemical weapons, including the nerve agent sarin, on a small scale against the opposition multiple times in the last year," Rhodes said. Those attacks killed at least 100-150 people, he added. Rhodes said Assad's forces used chemical weapons on March 19, April 13, May 14, and May 23.

 the obama version of the ole wag the dog.

so, he gets cover from Clinton, the arabs are cutting us out of rebel trng prgrms. all of a sudden NOW the proof he demanded after reports from France and Britain confirmed it 2 months ago, have become available? Can we see this evidence?

Next up, it appears that a no fly zone won't need a UN resolution, BUT for Libya, we did. :eusa_whistle:

old Russian saying; " when in a crisis you cannot manage, create another crisis".

and for the record, McCain is a idiot. we are way to late and, we don't even know what we are trying to manage or 'win'. Sound familiar?

I cannot imagine anyone who was against Afghanistan or Iraq being down with this, especially- now. If Syria does have those S-300's what happens if one takes down an amercian jet? Proxy war ala 67, 73....how is this the difference Obama was supposed to bring and stand for btw?

Oh my, Assad is crapping in his pants now that Obama has been forced to accept reports from secondary sources.

Obama seems not to comprehend that words have consequences. If he says "THis is a red line" and then does nothing when Assad crosses it then he has blown credibility with the world. So the next time he says "We will not allow Iran to get a nuclear weapon" the mullahs in Iran are laughing their asses off at him.

He is the most incompetent president since Samuel K Doe.

Bill Clinton cautions Obama: Beware looking like a 'total wuss' and 'total fool'

The former president says the current president may regret staying on the sidelines if Syria's war worsens

In a rare split over foreign policy, former President Bill Clinton said President Obama risks looking like a "total wuss" if he lets public and political opposition to intervening in Syria dissuade him from taking decisive action to help rebels topple the Assad regime.

Obama is a complete failure as a leader.

He can't get out in front of any-fucking-thing.

He drew this red line in the sand months ago. Instead of starting *then* to make plans about what to do should that line get crossed, he waits until it gets crossed and says, 'Well, next week I'm meeting with the G8. Let's wait and see what they have to say about it'.

What a fucking loser.
If he's not campaigning for something he ain't worth a shit.
:cuckoo:

I personally don't give a rats about Syria. On the one side you have the Muslim Brotherhood, and the other a terrorist supporting ahole DICTATOR.

Let them have at it. While they are killing each other, they aren't performing terrorism elsewhere.

We need to stay the hell out of it. Besides, the Russians have a Naval Base there and they don't want to lose it. They'll support ASSAD anyway.

Let them settle it.

No one is going into Syria Obama and the U.N. will give the standard talking points this is unacceptable we condemn this all options are on the table and then forget the whole thing.

Since when does anyone care what the UN says?
