The banker MBAs destroyed the banking system and then Americans allowed them to embezzle more than $40 billion more each year by calling the crime "bonuses".

Who would pay bonuses to buffoons who completely failed by criminal fraud? Americans, that's who.

Then Michael Lewis writes a book called the big short, makes a bundle claiming that Wall Street people are smart because they are ripping off the banks and get away with it. Its all a big joke to Michael Lewis who knows its a simple fraud.

It amazes me what Americans will endure and still rise up in the morning with a smile on their face and a cup of coffee in their hands. Will he ever rise up and say he isn't going to take this crap anymore, put down the coffee cup and pick up his hand gun? I doubt it. Maybe if he just practiced doing it, he might get used to the idea.:eusa_angel:

I suppose it would be appropriate to mention Frank Raines, CEO of Fannie.....much extolled by Maxine Waters and the other two Black Racists form the Corrupt Congressional Black Caucus who yowled and howled at Dubya's representatives for repeatedly insisting on more regulation of Fannie & Freddie during the Congressional Committee hearings. These proceedings are on record and there are at least a dozen videos that one can view on Youtube where Maxine Waters & her colleagues from the Corrupt Racist Congressional Black Caucus are sliming and insulting Dubya's representatives.

All this is also documented in the many earlier threads on the subject on USMB.

There were at least 1/2 a dozen Republican Congressmen that joined in criticizing the freewheeling Fannie & Freddie CEOs only to be re-assured by Bwarney Fwank, Chairman of the House Finance Committee and the non-convicted criminal Chris Dodd, Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee both of whom re-assured the Nation on National TV that everything was honky-dory.

BTW, Frank Raines, the CEO of Fannie, yep....the one that walked off with $100 Million shortly after the Fannie Freddie debacle.....was immediately appointed Chief Financial Advisor to Obami Salaami's cabinet. So was the other CEO from Freddie......as the Chairman for the selection of Biden.

Both of these Dem Super Crooks suddenly evaporated when the National Spotlight was focused on them. I suppose both of these POS are now languishing in the Special Financial Heaven reserved for the DEM Super crooks.

Using a gun will put people in prison. Americans are told what to do and they do it because they are in a brainwashed trance. Propaganda is a scientific well thought out method of control perfected by the CIA.

Being in a brainwashed trance has nothing to do with ignorance or stupidity. Allowing crooks to embezzle bank deposits is way beyond stupidity.

There are many other issues besides calling embezzlement -- bonuses.

America has a political system of open bribery and kickbacks. They call it campaign finance and "free speech".

CEO's get their bonus's courtesy of the Board of Directors and the shareholders of their companies. That of course has nothing to do with anyone but the BOD and the shareholder. Your post is rather bogus.

Also criminal fraud and paying buffoons??

Well our elected officials fit that profile pretty darned well.

I'm sure the bondholders and shareholder of GM would call what the Obama administration did to them criminal.

We taxpayers get hosed all the time by the Clowns in DC.

The Big Short is written well and it is fascinating stuff. But, no.

You are misreading the book and the author's intent if you think it's all just a big joke to him.

He described a complicated set of factors in a more accessible way for those of us who are not economists, business execs and accountants. And he certainly did use humor (some of it more like gallows humor than anything else) to help make his points more clear.

But he also made it clear that he had serious issues with what happened and his work will likely be considered (in the future) to be useful historical source material when historians try to explain how we all could have "let" these crooks and conmen get away with this crap. Sadly, the latter group DOES include politicians -- both within the present bunch of dopey liberal Democrats and within the prior set of dopey Republicans.
