Children living in direct provision at a protest outside the Department of Justice earlier this year

Aodhán O Ríordáin said welfare payments in respect of the estimated 1,700 children in the asylum system would rise from €9.60 per week to €29.80 per week “in coming weeks”.

Just process their applications, if the have come from safe countries, such as other European countries, enforce the Dublin Convention and send them back.

Ireland has many social problems, such as homelessness, lack of affordable housing and high unemployment. The government should deal with these problems, instead of importing more social issues.

It's not enough that you want our country to send innocent children back to war torn areas, now you want other countries to be as heartless as you. Typical.

The majority are not refugees, they are economic migrants. If they were seeking asylum, they would apply for it in the first safe country they got to. Why do they pass through several safe, travel to the most westerly country in Europe, and then apply for asylum?
