starship troopers

When I first saw that movie all I could think was that Denise Richards is the most beautiful woman to come along since Cindy Crawford.

All I could think about in the movie was just how badly trained those soldiers were. They seemed to specialize in aimlessly running into each other's field of fire. Nor did they have any tactical plan besides "shoot the bugs with an assault rifle at close range". As I watched the densely-packed army of bugs walking over the open terrain, I was wondering why there weren't batteries of 155's turning them into masses of bug-splatter.

And don't get me started on the spaceship-killing bug farts, or the way hit spaceships keeled over like a battleship and started sinking towards the planet.

In Heinlein's book, the Mobile Infantry wasn't a pack of morons. They had artillery. And plentiful nukes, which a JO could order the use of. The movie was more of a satire of Heinlein. Which had some high points, as Heinlein could use a little satire.

So, why is this in "education"?
