So the idiots in California just voted for an income tax hike and a sales tax hike.*

In the state budget they cut funding for the military to attend college while letting illegals go to college free. And are giving the homeless cell phones.

The sales tax measure failed. The hike in income tax passed but not the hike in the sales tax.

The hike in sales tax, which would have put CA state sales tax at 10% was heavily promoted at being a tax on the evil rich. They can pay a half cent more. But, alas, the poor realized that they too would have to pay a higher sales tax and the measure failed.

California being this way is the reason my son is looking for a new job, in Austin Texas. Austin is now the same kind of tech hub that Silicon Valley used to be before the tech companies moved to Austin.
