If America were to turn to a 100% socialist or 100% capitalist society, which would you rather have?

Example - Capitalist Society
  • No state or Federal income tax for individual civilians.
  • 10% Federal Sales tax and Corporate Income Tax (paid by shareholders).
  • Roads paid for by local communities generating money out of own choice and then given to a local business so they can pave/repair the roads. Same idea with road salt, traffic lights, jails, schools, etc. Communities would then choose how well their area is "kept" by donating more money. Companies would "bid" on projects, making competition and lowering prices.
  • Communities hold local meetings to discuss on how much government employees should make per year. If there's not enough workers who volunteer to take a government job, the salary would go up and down based on demand. The funds for government workers would be the same as above with utilities and road work fundraising.
  • Businesses would charge prices based on what the market says the prices should be... Competition would lower prices and boost customer service experiences. Businesses would also not be required to have a set minimum wage.
  • Businesses would not have to adhere to health codes in order to stay in business, but business could be negatively affected for an unhealthy atmosphere.
  • Colleges could charge whatever they wanted to and would be 100% privatized with no financial aid. Scholarships would be built from funds like they are today.
  • Laws pertaining to speeding and minor violations would be determined by the community members, and the same as regulations such as speed limits. If the community wants a highway similar to an autobahn, they can have one. Ticket prices would be determined by the community, not politicians.
  • Government programs like food stamps, social security, medicaid, and medicare do not exist.
Example - Socialist Society

  • 80% Federal and state tax (combined) on all businesses and individuals.
  • 10% sales tax on all purchases charged to the business.
  • Roads construction paid for by the government at a random company's quote. Other government expenses paid for such as road salt, traffic lights, healthcare, schools, etc., at government's choice of spend. Healthcare services and college, intermediate, and elementary education would be 100% covered.
  • Politicians decide how much government employees make, not based on the free market.
  • Businesses charge money based on government input with price regulations.
  • Businesses would have to adhere to health codes or face a fine and potential shut down.
  • Colleges would be state regulated and free and paid how much the government wants them to be paid.
  • Laws like speeding are determined by government politicians' decisions only as well as ticket prices.

Dude,

Mixed....

We should like the rest of the developed world have a public and private sector as we have always had.

End of discussion.

Isn't that what's created the disaster we have today?

That's still not even the point of this thread. If you HAD to choose, which one.

In the Soviet Union, which was the most socialist country of the world,, it is your capitalist list that was practiced, almost entirely. Maybe with the exception of community money, because every money was centralized. But apart from that, as per your list, the Soviet Union was then the most capitalist country. Hmmm.

The other problem of the OP that it assumes the existence of some market. Markets only exist on the village square if even there. Markets are illusionary processes of transitions to consolidation.

The answer is easy. Just look at any nation where socialism is the rule. Say...Cuba, USSR, Venezuela. Now, which do you prefer?

Socialism is just another form of dictatorship.

Slashsnake obviously knows nothing about either capitalism or socialism. What has happened to education America? You'd wish before some one posted nonsense they'd at least get part of the nonsense correct.

Political Keywords is a place to start and Oxford shorts are another. Replying to material so empty of understanding is not worth the effort.

In a Capitalist society with Judea/Christian values an economy of trust is presented where everyone has something someone else would like to have, and with mutual agreement, meet the terms necessary to have an exchange of wants and needs with each agreeing to the terms of payment(and by a handshake the deal is done).
In a Socialist society, some central government sets the rules of equality where each person contributes to the central point(even when some of the schlobs don't bother to work) then through even distribution, everyone gets a piece of the pie. But, when the working people see, that the non-working people get the same, those working start to not work as much, eventually no one works and there is nothing left for the people. Socialism always works this way and always will, because there are always some people(liberals) who want to game the system. This eventually leads to government control at the POINT OF A GUN.
The Road to Serfdom - Wikipedia
The Road to Serfdom (German: Der Weg zur Knechtschaft) is a book written between 1940 and 1943 by Austrian British economist and philosopher Friedrich von Hayek, in which he "[warns] of the danger of tyranny that inevitably results from government control of economic decision-making through central planning."[1] He further argues that the abandonment of individualism and classical liberalism inevitably leads to a loss of freedom, the creation of an oppressive society, the tyranny of a dictator, and the serfdom of the individual. Hayek challenged the general view among British academics that fascism (including National Socialism) was a capitalist reaction against socialism. He argued that fascism, National Socialism and socialism had common roots in central economic planning and empowering the state over the individual.

Meanwhile your profile picture has a picture of Hillary Clinton with the words "liberal/progressive" underneath it.

If anything you're the laughing stock of any thread you participate in.

Me, Capitalism because I'm a capitalist and I'd mop up in your example.

Society? I'm not so sure, Canada and Europe work pretty well. US healthcare and education are colossal wastes of money and most systems work better.

What we have works pretty well. A mixture of socialism and capitalism with a pinch of fascism and a light sprinkle of communism. Pretty much what we started with, back in 1789, except we had some mercantilism then.
Americans were unable to define the terms then, and most still can't.

We have maximum socialism now and first time ever declining incomes this is not sustainable. Ever heard of East Germany West Germany. We need to switch back to capitalism immediately. Chyna just switched to capitalism and instantly illuminated 40% of the poverty on earth.

Wasn't National Socialist it where in USA it's Democratic Socialist over tousand black niggaz kill people business every year in USA because there's Socialist Democracy with former president Barack Obama and in 90's the Billy man.

Fascist USA is not more right than police state how USA need of current way and of course with the Trump USA can with his comment to fix 500.000 or 700.000 more to Federal government. USA became real Federation with biggest police force in this World it's matter is today. In China are more police than USA today and Close in Russia too. One million police force in Russia and thems Federation. Russia have many criminal and China and also USA. N.Korea have less police force.

N.Korea are maybe anarcho-Communism. But I know only big armies in two sizes in N.Korea. I wants meeting N.Koreas first military force with 317.000 US Army troops and ROK in combination. 17.000 US Army troops outside N.Korea current situation. But with ROK we will meeting N.Korea.
