So Which Party is Moving Farther from Mainstream America?

Both.
Both are not only in bed with corporations, special interest and Wall Street/Central Banks...they are happily married.
You see these ridiculous threads about "booming economy" - yeah - if you are among the wealthiest in America - you betm, the economy is outstanding. Never been better,
The MSM simply does not acknowledge the "two economies"/ The economy of the elite large corporations/investors and the economy of most Americans. And neither do many posters here.

Come on Kosh, name three issues that the American people agree with the GOP platform on and provide polling data.

I got ya.

1. Water is wet
2. Air is good.
3. Black is beautiful?
3. Fire is hot.

Can't we all just get along and agree on three things?

Can we? Yes, water is wet but it shouldn't catch on fire. (A majority of Americans oppose Fracking)
Air is good? It is when it's clean and breathable. A majority of Americans believe climate change is a threat...the GOP does not even believe it's real.

Apparently the left wing will be running on the same very successful platform they ran on in 2014. Republicans bad, democrats good, just ignore the man behind the curtain. Ignore that the changes in Medicaid payments to doctors that are going to cause a shortage in doctors and thus an increase in ER visits, exactly the opposite of the liberals stated intent, as always. The bright side may be that there will be more less qualified doctors, think immigration, willing to work for less. I assume they will continue this idea to other workers, maybe they will cut the wages of GM workers to make cars more affordable or are they just going after doctors? The flip side might be that because of the cuts in medicaid those paying their own way can pick up the slack, sounds fair.

Apparently they are running on, all cops are racist. Certainly a winning hand.

I realize now that Obama and the left are psychics, just not real good ones. Not only didn't they see the ass whooping they received, they now wish for us to believe they can channel all the masses that didn't think it important to vote. That gives them the ability to do whatever they want because they know the will of the people who didn't vote, and it is not the same as those who did think it important to vote.

Why do you people keep acting as though 2014, an election the Republicans won that historically they were supposed to win anyway,

was such a watershed moment?

Republicans have won the popular vote in just ONE of the last SIX presidential elections.

That's a trend that is more likely to be helped rather than hurt in the future both by demographics and by Republican politics.

Weird, with Obama's great leadership and the changing demographic, Repubicans will hold more seats at the federal and state level in living memory. 31 - 18 governorships, 54 - 44 Senate, and 247 - 188 House. Go figure.

You must have missed it...the Democrats actually won if you count people who don't vote. Thaaat's right. The Democrats don't believe they lost, they "won" because people who don't vote should still count.

"So Which Party is Moving Farther from Mainstream America?"

It's not which party but what components of each party, where democrats for the most part reflect mainstream America, having won four of the last six General Elections is proof of that; and elements of the GOP do not, such as the TPM, libertarians, social conservatives, and fiscal extremists. There are many republicans who reflect mainstream America, but they're in conflict with the extreme elements, reflecting poorly on the GOP over all.

Mainstream republicans need to take back their party, and relegate the rightwing extremists to the political backseat, just as democrats accomplished with their more extreme elements between 1988 and 1992.

Well the Democrats missed one extremist, You
good grief, Democrats have went so far left they should be called, the Socialist/Communist party of the United States

And those people who didn't vote will flock to the polls in the 2016 Presidential election demonstrating how meaningless the 2014 "mandate" for Republicans was

See what I mean?
Obama's popularity couldn't be better...the economy is fantastic...Gitmo was closed 5 years ago...solar energy is paying off...Benghazi was a minor reaction to a youtube video...and I know this is true because I saw it on Comedy Central.

Terrific, and when you fail to govern, as you always do, we'll take the ones that matter back. Most of those are flyover zones, which don't matter.

It's a well known fact that the GOP has been drifing more and more right for the past couple decades now. The Democrats don't have any Teabaggers.

Flyover states don't matter?! Maybe brilliance like that accounts for Dems getting their asses kicked. The only thing Republicans won't control in three weeks is a handful of blue state legislatures and the White House

You have to remember, to a liberal anyone/everyone who disagrees with them is irrelevant. Especially facts.

Which of the two major political parties is moving farther away from the concerns of mainstream America?

The party that has nothing but contempt for mainstream America; the democrat party.

Twice as many people voted in 2012 as did in 2014

Obama received more votes than all the Republlican Congressmen combined. If Conservatives think that somehow gives them a mandate over Obama they are sadly mistaken

Worse for Republicans is if they think they will carry over the margins they had in 2014 in to 2016

Flyover states don't matter?!
That is correct.
Brilliant strategy there. I've little doubt you're a Democrat in good standing. Jesus, are you guys in trouble.
No, we aren't. Learn politics, and demographics.
Learn math: Repubicans will hold more seats at the federal and state level in living memory. 31 - 18 governorships, 54 - 44 Senate, and 247 - 188 House.

Politically, demographically and mathematically, Democrats got trounced across-the-board.
