So Obama care will force Catholic churches who employ people

The ignorance displayed by the liberals on this thread is really astounding. They would rather that hundreds of charitable institutions, that serve hundreds of thousands of the poor, close up shop rather than let the Church live by it's own beliefs.

Over birth-control... Are you fucking kidding me??

I mean, I've seen some dumb shit in my life, but this kind of stupidity is over-the-top.

Bye bye O'Bummer....

Again, this doesn't apply to churches. It applies to SOME businesses that the church owns. And no one is being forced to use birth control. It is merely offered as part of the insurance plan. There is no reason to penalize secular employees.

Again, the Catholic church funds hospitals and other service providers that, if not granted a waiver, will have to shut their doors to non Catholics. Currently, those hospitals treat and care for anyone - regardless of race, color, creed, sexual orientation, financial status, etc. The Church does not penalize anyone - but it cannot fund birth control/abortion/morning after pills.... it's against our religion. Stop discriminating against us.
IMO, no employer should be exempt from offering insurance that covers birth control so exempting any church is wrong. It is not up to an employer to dictate their employee's health choices.

The Amish do not believe in insurance, period. They were given waivers.

You want to enable the government to decide morality for all. Enforce your version of secularism, that's wrong.

No, I simply don't want companies to enforce morality for all. It's unconstitutional.

Please engage some brain cells for a minute. It's NOT a company, it's a RELIGIOUS organization.

There's a DIFFERENCE.

I thought Annie said the board wasn't good enough for her and that she rarely stops by anymore :eusa_snooty: . Annie=Grampa Marked U in that whatever argument she's trying to make is undercut by her butt-hurt avatar.

A hospital and a university are companies.

Beware the law of unintended consequences, Ravi. If the Church pulls out, the taxpayer will have to pick up the slack.

Perhaps you would prefer that we all pay more, just so you can have your own way? Why? What is so bad about giving a waiver to the Church so that it can continue to provide care to those in need - without reference to creed, color, race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or anything else?

Naturally, the Catholics will be fine... we can have our own services - paid for by our Church.... while the rest of you slug it out for the crumbs. Then you'll be ranting about that too. That won't be 'fair' either.

Companies should not be free to dictate their employees health care choices.

It really is that simple.

They can choose to find alternative employment. We don't force anyone to work for the Church. We're nice like that. The Catholic Church is not a 'company', it is a religion. The services that we provide - we because it's funded by Catholics - provide everyone - regardless of faith, color, creed or sexual orientation - with care that they may not otherwise receive. And we ask nothing in return - other than that we continue to practice our faith in peace. We have that right. Says so in the Constitution. Stop trying to force us to live by your rules.

So the Catholics have no issue w/ gays?

They are treated equally in our hospitals. No. Inconvenient, huh?

It has nothing to do with employers dictating health care choices. No one is proposing that any health care choices be denied. It's who pays for those health care choices. Why should someone pay for birth control or abortion for someone else? They can pay themselves.

That adds a lot. Why are those that care so much about 'the poor' ignoring what may be wrought?

BTW, things change and posting on threads I'm interested in, while reasonable people are posting on either side, is my prerogative.
