The horror screams are audible from all points after the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action. Asking people to perform at their best level is asking too much for some. The idea that skin color dictates choice is asinine and infantile. A 29 page dissent which was at least half plagiarism spews snark, bitterness and vengeance and seems to be saying that colleges are no longer about learning but more about parceling out social status. So which is it?

The supreme court is the last bastion of hope for our dwindling democratic republic.
They exist to rule cases according to the constitution, the spirit of the document, and law.
Affirmative action always was, and always will be unconstitutional.
And there is no argument to that.

Don't lower expectations, instead demand higher achievement, which begins in education. America is not a caste system like Canada, you don't (or should not) have covert police in poor neighbourhoods targetting your young and manufscturng threats. Thus, you are free to achieve. Educators and parents are to blame, not racism in society. If you tell someone from a young age "you will never achieve due to your race" well they will fulfull that prophesy.

You evidently have no idea as to why AA was created.

That is not what AA was about.

Many years ago non-whites and women were discriminated against, I know it sounds hard to believe but that was the jist of society.

I am a white male society was made for me but it wasn't right to suppress everyone else to make it possible.

You evidently have no idea as to why AA is unconstitutional, and by every definition wholly racist.
AA had it's merits as a TEMPORARY solution to mass racism in the 60s and 70s.
It has no place in a free society that no longer uses race to deny employment/housing/education.
Read that last sentence again. Because the only instances of that in America was AA.

It was never intended to be a policy infinitum. When society was ready it can and will get rid of the policy.

A polarizing over-generalizatiom.

I doubt the overt racism is part of the attempt to gut public education.

I'm curious to know what percentage of Americans want school vouchers because the school was 1) genuinely bad for their kids, 2) underfunded, or 3) not teaching their preferred religion
