Smartmatic to sue FoxNews, Newsmax, OANN for defamation

They have a great case. I hope they win BIGLY!

Smartmatic Demands Justice for Defamation

Boca Raton, Florida - December 14, 2020 - Smartmatic announced today that it is issuing legal notices and retraction demand letters to Fox News, Newsmax and One America News Network for publishing false and defamatory statements. The demand letters identify dozens of factually inaccurate statements made by each of the organizations as part of a “disinformation campaign” to injure Smartmatic and discredit the 2020 U.S. election.

According to Smartmatic’s demand letters, these organizations could have easily discovered the falsity of the statements and implications made about Smartmatic by investigating their statements before publishing them to millions of viewers and readers. Smartmatic had nothing to do with the “controversies” that certain public and private figures have alleged regarding the 2020 U.S. election. Multiple fact-checkers have consistently debunked these false statements with stunning consistency and regularity.

“They have no evidence to support their attacks on Smartmatic because there is no evidence. This campaign was designed to defame Smartmatic and undermine legitimately conducted elections,” said Antonio Mugica, CEO of Smartmatic. “Our efforts are more than just about Smartmatic or any other company. This campaign is an attack on election systems and election workers in an effort to depress confidence in future elections and potentially counter the will of the voters, not just here, but in democracies around the world.”

I hope they get sent to the cleaners. Any money you can take away from these people is less money going MAGA and the trump effort to steal elections.

Not gonna get my hopes too high but in a perfect world it would be wonderful to see a precedent setting prosecution [civil and criminal] that would fling the doors wide open for all media outlets to have their day in court.

O.K.

I did a little research.

And?

Both Smartmatic, and Dominion are privately held.

So? The upshot of this is? All the gas-lighting, and all the consortium's bullshit that they are unrelated, or that there is no, "conspiracy?" Is just that, BULLSHIT.

I am not allowed to see who the major share holders of these corporations are. Now. . . for most public corporations? The major institutional investors all tend to be the same, we are owned by the same global oligarchs. Those are ones like Berkshire Hathaway, State Street Capital, BlackRock, or Vanguard, etc., the folks pulling all the strings, in both parties, in all cities, states and all nations. . if they use the global economy, tend to be their puppets.

So sure, let them be subject to discovery.

Let the truth come right on out. I can't fucking wait.

I have seen this story play out before, it is just an echo of what the DNC was whining about two decades ago, and nothing was solved back then. These political parties are play things for the elites, as is the "law."

I am surprised you folks have such a short term memory.

Now it's on!

Pro-Trump network OAN’s president solicited more info after receiving ‘stolen’ Smartmatic passwords, court documents allege

The president of the far-right cable network One America News solicited additional information from an anonymous tipster who provided “stolen” passwords of Smartmatic employees after the 2020 election, according to emails recently disclosed in court and new allegations from the voting technology company.

The revelation builds on CNN’s previous reporting that OAN President Charles Herring forwarded the purported Smartmatic passwords to ex-Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell within days and later passed it to Mike Lindell. At the time, the two prominent Trump allies were falsely claiming on OAN and other right-wing networks that Smartmatic rigged the election to put Joe Biden in the White House.

Smartmatic claims these email exchanges are evidence of potential crimes by OAN executives, including violations of data privacy and hacking laws, which the network vehemently denies.

Smartmatic is suing OAN for defamation stemming from the 2020 election lies. OAN denies defaming Smartmatic or anyone else, and its lawyers say nobody at OAN broke the law in connection with the alleged passwords.

In a recent court filing, Smartmatic publicly disclosed – for the first time – the original email that OAN received on January 5, 2021, containing the alleged passwords.

The anonymous email was sent to a generic OAN inbox, claiming to contain information about Eric Coomer, an employee of Dominion Voting Systems, another election technology company at the center of baseless 2020-related conspiracy theories.

About one hour later, Herring personally responded to the anonymous message, saying, “Thank you! If you come across any addition (sic) information, please pass along,” according to emails made public in court filings.

They should all go to jail.
