If we can get through the next four years without too much more damage to the economy, we may find that President Obama's tenure in office will allow us to remove the racial albatross from our necks that has poisoned our nation since its inception. Hopefully, the election of our first Black President will shatter the notion of a "glass ceiling" that mysteriously holds down certain people despite their obvious merits. Hopefully, Black people will realize that increased government programs is not the solution to their problems. Hopefully, White people will be able to set aside their guilt about slavery and judge people on their character without always making excuses for bad behavior. Hopefully, voters will realize that we can't borrow our way to prosperity. Am I being too hopeful?
