if you've cached some 3/16" aircraft cable and "one way" slip-devices. The latter can be made out of slugs from electrical boxes. Ditto elk or moose, of course Depending upon the size/type of critter, you'll need a drag log of day, 8" or greater OD, and 10ft or more in length. Let them exhaust themselves dragging the log, then finish them with a spear, slingbow arrow, club with a stone head, silenced .22, etc.

find a trail leading to a water hole and arrange a 'funnel" of stakes/brush, to force the critters to walk thru the place you want. If you have the luxury of time, it's best to not set the snares until you see sign that the critters have become accustomed to your changes in their area. One strange thing at a time is a lot less likely to run them off. use forked sticks to set the snare loops 4" above the surface all over the trail. The more, the better, but you only need one drag-log. They will leave a trail that a blind man can follow. At the end of that trail, tho, is one VERY ticked off, large, dangerous critter, so watch your six.
