Should LA be evacuated before the earthquake ?

If you have loved ones who are in known earth quake zones in California alert them to the likelihood of an earthquake in the next few days.

Is this on the news anywhere in California?

This is my personal opinion .

I should have asked at the outset. I'm just curious if those calculations you posted are accurate, whether the possibility of an impending quake is being discussed on the airwaves in California. Seems like if it's a top topic of conversation, there would be a lot of people making preparations just in case. I'm not being snarky. I'm truly curious.

then, maybe....

As bankrupt as California is, would they even be able to rebuild afte such an event?

California is far, far from Bankrupt. We have a budget deficit that represents less than one percent of our state economy. We'll be fine.

That's far different from what I've heard and read. Google California bankrupt and see what comes up.

I've read that California is 20 Billion in the hole a year through 2016

Why Cali? The pacific plates have been releasing pent up energy repeatedly and the supermoon event on March 19 could increase this activity some. However I would be more inclined to think The New Madrid Fault is more likely to erupt again because of internal magma pressures and the opposing gravitational forces of the moon and sun during this event. And an earthquake in this region would be devastating.

i have been here since 67......we hear about quakes every day......there is a shaker somewhere just about every day.....the great majority are so small no one but the Cal Tech people know about them.....biggest i was in was the 92 one which was 6.7....and that was a mother.....i can imagine what a 8 or 9 pointer would be like....
