It is good to see, at least as far as immigrants such as myself are concerned, that the spirit of openness for which America is justly renowned still appears to be present in the majority.

Every country has its share of bigots or xenophobes. Mine is no exception. But a result that shows 80% are in favor of giving legal immigrants all the rights that U.S. Citizens enjoy (with the exception of the franchise for those who choose not to become Citizens, of course) is heartwarming.

Those of you who voted no should pat yourselves on the back. As far as this particular scenario is concerned, this result is a classic demonstration of the desire to lead by example.
