Serial Killers/rapists Liked Porn First

"Portions of this paper have been published in the International Journal of Law and Psychiatry

Sex abuse of any kind is deplorable and should be eliminated. Rape and sex crimes, like any criminal activities are blights on society which should be expunged. The question remains "How best to do this?" Most assuredly, focusing energy in the wrong direction, or taking actions just to placate victims, politicians or irate citizens will not solve the problem nor help. Nor will spreading myths or misinformation. Removing pornography from our midst will, according to the evidence, only hurt rather than help society."

Hey Delta4Embassy and Koshergrl:
I have a silly solution.

Why not legalize access to porn for people who agree to come in for regular screening
and have all their contacts monitored, with full access to their records by the public.

Why not make it completely open, that if you want free speech, then everyone else has access
to your information so there is no chance of hiding some criminal abuse or addiction.

As long as you agree to get help and work with the spiritual healing therapies in case of sign of
addiction or abuse, then you are free to access all you want as long as it is consensual and completely open.

To prevent kids from getting into this,
I guess the dangerous offenders should be isolated in a maximum security ward
and keep the porn and online access in a closed circuit where only the participants
can access it as well as the staff and professionals in charge of monitoring them.

If this is used for a study to see which people can or cannot be cured of their addictions,
maybe the Catholic priests and churches owing restitution for abuses can invest
resources into builidng a rehab prison just for their pedophile priests and other inmates,
convicts or willing participants who AGREE to turn themselves in to get access to all the porn
they need while undergoing treatment for their addictions. And keep the really SICK people
out of the population by creating a safe place where they can feed their addictions if they really cannot help being sick.

how about that?
just create a place where they can go legally for medical help
while studying the severe dangerous cases of addiction and criminal sickness
to understand the cause, cure and process of diagnosing changes in their states including relapses.

If people view exclusively gay male porn would that make you happy? No kids, no women......

Funny, people rarely talk about the victimization of male porn stars.

No, I recognize that the porn industry preys upon homosexuals and underaged men as well.

YES! So again koshergrl
if we know there is addiction and abuse going on,
why not demand research into the known cures.

Why keep letting extreme secular media bias
censor the spiritual healing and help that has literally saved lives
otherwise lost to drug and criminal addiction.

Why is this knowledge being suppressed
when we have scientific technology and resources that can prove it?

The cure for most addiction is to stop doing it.

In this case, we're talking about porn..which progressive nutbags claim is actually *healthy* and should be offered to people like pedophiles and youngsters in order to somehow *prevent* sex crimes and the spread of STDs.

It's hogwash, of course. You don't prevent the spread of stds via the porn industry, and you don't cure pedophiles by giving them kiddie porn. Even if it is animated, as Delta4 suggests. Freaking gross.

Someone alert the media, cure for addiction found on discussion website! Just stop doing it! Wee! Nobel prize coming your way Kosher I have no doubt.

Studies prove, as porn availability goes up, sex crimes go down. If you have a study contradicting this by all means share.

Hi Delta4Embassy:
You remind me of the studies that show a drop in crime right after executions take place.
Does that mean we should rely on executions to reduce crime?

Making porn available STILL does not address the Cure of the Cause of sexual addiction and abuse.
Neither do executions ADDRESS the CAUSE of the sickness to Prevent crime.

So just because it correlates with a reduction
still doesn't solve the problem, sorry.

If anything Delta4Embassy,
it may correlated with FORGIVENESS.

If people are not angry and judging people for their sickness,
there is more of a chance of outreach to help people who really are sick!

So if that is the correlating factor, the forgiveness and dropping of negative judgment agianst people,
then that part is consistent with the spiritual healing process that has
helped people come forward and work on therapy to address the cause of their spiritual sickness addiction or abuses.

Forgiveness is the first step to getting help, otherwise you are right,
the problem is made worse.

Forgiveness of the fact some people are sick and abusive
would correlate with less focus on trying to ban porn and more focus on trying to cure the sick addictions
to reduce the demand for it.

similar to forgiving drug addictions to focus on rehab and recovery
and to focus less on punitive measures that make people run from getting help and thus make the problems worse.

so your arguments are similar to drug decriminalization:
the point is NOT to make drugs readily available which still poses risks,
but the point is to quit the negative focus on punishment and focus more on positive outreach
for addressing addictions in an OPEN healing environment where people are free to get help without fear of judgment.

These are multidecade studies in different countries. As porn availability goes up, sex crimes go down. Can't refute science. Can only come up with a bigger study and hope it contradicts the preior ones. So far, none have.

i dont belive one thing has to do with another. many men like porn. it depends on it being 'soft porn' which doesnt involve violence, or the kind of porn where women and girls get raped and tortured. or kiddie porn.

That isn't science, it's propaganda. In those scenarios, the crime goes down because at the same time they make porn available to all, they de-criminalize sex crimes, which means the rate of sex offenses goes down....and there is a pivotal shift in the way sex crimes are viewed. Which in turn makes the victims less likely to come forward.

I don't hover on the site, seeking new and more interesting contacts, as some do.

I'm on when I'm on, when I'm not, I'm not.

The crime rate reduced #1 because it was no longer a crime to look at porn (hello, that was difficult)
Legalizing pornography Lower sex crime rates Study carried out in Czech Republic shows results similar to those in Japan and Denmark -- ScienceDaily

"The ban was lifted with the country's transition to democracy and, by 1990, the availability and ownership of sexually explicit materials rose dramatically. Even the possession of child pornography was not a criminal offense."

Imagine that. So the child porn suddenly get a pass....and that means..less crime.

"Interestingly, whereas the number of sex-related crimes fell significantly after 1989, the number of other societal crimes -- murder, assault, and robbery -- rose significantly."

Go figure.

Let's look at some more modern stuff now, mmkay?

“Unfortunately, we´ve also seen a historic rise in the distribution of child pornography, in the number of images being shared online, and in the level of violence associated with child exploitation and sexual abuse crimes. Tragically, the only place we´ve seen a decrease is in the age of victims.
This is – quite simply – unacceptable.”

None of that speaks to statistical reality. Maybe it convinced you and your ilk, but it doesn't convince anyone worth convincing. I don't doubt it's true, but it isn't addressing the subject at hand.

Sure it does. The DOJ maintains that the age of abused victims is increasing, and there's a surge in abuse and trafficking that correlates precisely with the availability of pornography. I'll go with that.

Kind of blows a big hole in your theory that child pornography reduces the incidence of abuse, I anticipate much flailing on your part.

Talk about cherry picking your facts. Rape and sex crimes dropped when porn was made legal. Would-be rapists and other violent offenders 'making due' with fantasies instead of reality. Just as occured in Scandinavian countries when US-led bans on porn occured in the late 70s and early 80s. Without as much porn, rape rates started going back up.

If you really cared about protecting people, and not about controlling them, you'd be all for letting people look at whatever they wanted. Provided they aren't victimizing someone by producing the content as with child pornography. Instead, I get the impression you wanna control people more than protect them, and therein is the difference between you and I. I want to help keep people safe. You want to control them.

"Child pornography offenses are one of the fastest growing crimes in California, with a 150% increase in detection and arrests each year. As more and more people are caught in police stings as a result of Task Force operations, it is increasingly apparent that people accused of this crime come from all walks of life."

See, what happens when you make pornography legal is that these arrests cease to happen.

Hence the alleged *decrease* in abuse when child pornography is legalized.

Yeah, whatever, loon.

The DOJ understands the situation, and so do I. \

When you make porn legal, you make abuse legal, hence less crime.

Worth mentioning that claim was by a civilian worker at the San Rafael, California Police Department, and not a statistician or scientist or policy wonk. So take it with a shaker of salt. Also, it was about California crime increases, not nationwide.
