Serial Killers/rapists Liked Porn First

All serial killers have a perverted sexual appetite and a strange connection between violence and sexual pleasure. It develops early in life (read Unkotare) and is fed by the objectifying view of women and men that pornography promotes.

Or is it their interest in pornography fed by their appetite for sexual acts they can't express in real life? It's strictly a horse/cart thing and while the point of view presented here has intuitive appeal, there's no strong consensus that pornographic fantasy encourages real violence. Some people argue it's an outlet that diffuses unacceptable urges. I'm not sure I buy that, but it's not as clear cut as it first seems.

Pornography is not a healthy form of entertainment in general, not to mention that most of the people involved in the business of it are sad individuals would should have sought psychological counseling.

There's nothing good in it, truly. And yes, I have seen my share, but stopped many years ago as I eventually saw nothing but damaged people who were someone's daughter.

I tend to agree. There are many good arguments against porn. I'm merely taking issue with the correlation in the OP. It doesn't really hold water.

The only point the correlation is meant to illustrate is that watching porn doesn't prevent men from turning into predators.

You can't even say that. The guy who has a sexual attraction to teen girls might well get his fix from porn and so he never tries to pick up teen hitchhikers or teen girls walking on the street. In other words, he never legally qualifies as a predator therefore you have no way of knowing, of testing, whether watching porn has prevented him from becoming a predator.

It proves it doesn't prevent all men from turning into predators, but doesn't prove that it can prevent some. You have no way of knowing who "wasn't" a predator but otherwise could have been

Here's what we know at the very least- porn gives men an unhealthy view of women and an unrealistic expectation of what sexual pleasure is. It degrades the relationship between men and women by objectifying something which is charged with emotion and physical interaction.

I personally wold love to see it banned, even though that will never happen.

That's an unworkable solution in an environment of unrestrained female sexuality.

So who's *playing* the underaged sex slaves in the porn?

Oh yeah. Underaged sex slaves.

Seriously, to watch people justify the production of porn that straight up depicts illegal activities and the degradation of women...as a way to "protect" women from the same illegal activities and degradation that's being filmed...

I mean seriously..you don't see the problem with that?

No, you don't.

But there is a problem. We don't have to create porn that idealizes the rape, subjugation, and abuse of women and girls, in order to "prevent" those things from happening. The idea is ludicrous. The CREATION of that garbage is abuse just by the nature of its being. It's like saying "we must have abortion, or there will be abortions!"

Freaking idiots.

The stimulation tends to increase the fantasy. If anything, it will make them more likely to seek out the object of their desires in the flesh. It is known (through real medical studies) that the brain is changed through prolonged exposure to porn. The fact is that man (the species) has not evolved to the point that such a high degree of stimuli is capable of being absorbed without it literally changing the mind. That is why porn can be addictive, like alcohol or gambling. It triggers the same sensors (endorphines and others) that are stimulated by drugs or alcohol. So eventually (with over exposure) the user seeks out more and more perverse stimulation as their brain seeks to achieve the heightened sense of pleasure that was once triggered simply by a nude woman in a provocative pose.

For real.

The stimulation tends to increase the fantasy. If anything, it will make them more likely to seek out the object of their desires in the flesh.

All of these studies suffer from a serious design flaw, which is that their sample is drawn from men who DID act and so all that we know is that for men who DO act, exposure to porn influences some of them to act. All of the men who DID NOT ACT and so did not get caught are invisible to the study design.

It really is as stupid as this. Men with fast cars who read Street Racer magazine are more prone to street racing than those men with fast cars who don't read street racing magazines. Reading a new article makes them want to go and Street Race. What is unobserved are the teenagers who read Street Racer and who don't street race and are never caught by police.

The sample is restricted to men who are suggestable. They see porn, they act on it. The men who are no suggestable are excluded from the study.

Actually, no.

Because I never said that reading porn makes people killers.

What I said, and what this thread is highlighting, is that porn DOES NOT prevent people from becoming depraved, psychotic, serial rapists and killers.

No, the studies I am talking were not about criminals, just regular guys who had porn addictions. You don't have to turn into a killer to have the brain change.

You really think they have underage girls in those videos?

What Serial Killers and Murderers think about Pornography Net Nanny

I would say guilt by association. I don't have a study to back this up, but I would guess 90-95% of men (doesn't matter if straight or gay) like porn! Myself included! :boobies:

You haven't the ability to understand the premise of my thread, CC. This site is peppered with lunatics who are claiming that porn is *healthy* and one moron actually is posting that if we PREVENT people from accessing and becoming addicted to porn, they will turn into *serial rapists*. The premise of my thread is that sentiment is a lie, and it is spread in order to literally terrify people into supporting the porn industry.

It's over your head, poppet.

What's unhealthy is ANY Church trying to shame young men and women for masturbating. It's not a shameful act. It's not only wrong for the Church to do that, it's none of their business. And what's really an eye opener is that Utah ranks # 1 in porn subscriptions.

So, how's that abstinence thing working out?

The Church's war on porn and masturbation, apparently has created more of it. LOL!

Dodo bird.

And? Are we supposed to be linking enjoyment of pornography with serial murder? If that were in ANY way true we'd all be dead because pretty much everybody enjoys porn, not everybody becomes a murderer or rapist. Could bury you with science but it'd be like proving to you the Sun is bright - not worth the effort.

But please, by all means keep railing against pornography. As with gun control rhetoric, more they talk about banning guns, more people buy guns. More they rail against porn, more popular porn becomes. :)

No.

You're supposed to STOP equating PORN with MASTURBATION, and tell your compadres to stop making the idiotic claim that "without porn, we'll have more serial rapists".

You have yet to prove your point

Keep trying
