WASHINGTON -- Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) took impeachment over President Barack Obama's immigration action off the table on Friday.

"No, we're not going to impeach President Obama. Or have a move to impeach," Sessions said at a Heritage Foundation event and then added, "The president has certain powers and we truly believe -- and I think it's accurate to say that he abused those powers."

Sessions urged Congress to come up with an approach to reverse the president's executive action, which will grant deportation relief to some 4.4 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.

According to the Alabama Republican, Congress can counter the action by using the power of the purse.

Sessions is making more sense than most Obama haters.

..."No, we're not going to impeach President Obama. Or have a move to impeach," Sessions...

Not until after January 3, 2015, when the 114th is sworn-in, anyway.

After that, who knows?

Best to lull the adversary into a false sense of security in the meantime.

Sessions understands that even though the House can get the impeachment rolling, that the GOP will never get the impeachment in the Senate which would take 2/3rd's to convict.

Having the trial would end in not enough votes to oust Obama..................because even next year the GOP don't have the numbers to fire Obama.

So, he is looking at other ways to stop Obama's un-Constitutional order.

Probably correct.

But who knows how many Democrat Senators would be willing to vote to convict, given a trumped-up charge that looked good enough, in order to dump an increasingly and painfully unpopular President in favor of a 'placeholder' who might be able to help salvage something for the Democrats in the 2016 general election?

Because if Obumble is still running the show in November 2016, I think the Dems stand a decent chance of losing the White House, as well as the GOP retaining both House and Senate.

Heck, add an independent or two, to the short list of Dems who might consider dumping Dear Leader, and add one or two Dems who could be 'bought' for the right price, and who knows? They might pick up those 12 or 13 or 14 and pull off a conviction, after all.

Unlikely, but it's fun to speculate, and well within the realm of possibility, if not probability.

Pretty sad. Obama supporters were once on top of the world and now they have been reduced to the forlorn hope that he isn't impeached.

Very unlikely and may cause blow back at the polls. He should be impeached, but in the rules of War never take on a battle that you know in the end you can't win.

The sooner the last of the Orgasmic ObamaBots can be sidelined, the safer the Republic...

Of course you do................you are hoping for blow back in 2016............

Your party would never vote to convict even if Obama was Hitler.

Remarkable, but not really. You were completely wrong about the first part, and now completely wrong about the second as well. Carry on...

Considering that NaziCons are worse than Hitler - probably not.

If Republicans Don't Want to be Compared to Nazis, They Should Stop Acting Like Nazis

I just call it slumming - when I have nothing better to do. Plus, stock markets are closed today.

Impeachment was never on the table except for democrats. If democrats want obola impeached they should stop hoping republicans do it and do it themselves.
