Seattle's Nathan Hale High School juniors boycott state test

Why do dumb people hate tests so much?
Actually, it's just the opposite.

Standardized testing only tests route memorization for the specific types of questions asked and answers expected on the test. Standardized testing focuses on specific types of questions and areas and ignores everything else. Standardized testing tests on the students' learning how to take the test.

Standardized testing does not focus on overall knowledge, the intellectual diversity of students, critical thinking skills, and a myriad of other intellectual abilities and knowledge bases which, in fact, far more than standardized tests, are an indication of intellectual and academic growth and potential. Standardized testing ignores creativity and thinking outside the box. To quote Einstein:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.”

It is, in fact, those who are the most intelligent who abhor standardized testing, who are infuriated with spending their class time focusing on passing tests rather than on learning and their teachers having to teach for the test instead of developing their minds.

Standardized testing only tests route memorization.
Got any proof of that?

Or are you simply spewing another ridiculously unsupported assertion?

Fuck off, asshole!

What is you're IQ? 185? perhaps?
Okay, mr. lack of critical thinking skills: What is your proof that only stupid people don't like tests? You answer that and then I'll explain to you how and why it is, aside from the quote from Einstein, which you blatantly over look, that smart people do not like education to be all about how to pass tests.

Take it away ....

Right you are, testing is only proving that students swot good. And learning just to pass the test is an obvious feature of regression of the education system.

When did testing become a hindrance to an education? I had it all through K-12, college and military trade schools. It's how they find out if you were paying attention or playing with yourself.

People are focusing g on the wrong point here. It's not the test but what's being tested that people are upset with. Common Core is not popular with the students, teachers or parents in many areas. Even places where it is accepted by the bureaucracy.

Common Core is not your enemy.

From what I've seen of its math program, Common Core IS the greatest enemy of common sense nevermind our education system.

My mother's (former elementary ed teacher) comment on it has been.... That's what we used to use for SPED students.

You may not understand the concept of 'core.' The program probably is based on core concepts and skills. The very basics. It is the minimal they expect of students. It doesn't mean that all students are limited to those core concepts and skills. The goal is most likely to make sure that all students are getting at least those core concepts and skills. That's it. Pretty simple. Nothing to fight against or feel threatened by.

As we all know, public schools teach to the test because that's how the schools are graded AND because that's all they have time for considering the Liberal crap they're forced to include in their curriculum.

Proper schools and curricula would cure these issues much quicker than Common Core.

CC is fine, but the testing has to go. As for teaching Liberal Ideals, this is a Liberal nation, deal with it.

In the end, you have to let the teachers teach and stop trying to fix education by turning children into soap dishes passing Quality Control. They are people, not carrots or iPhones.

I am fed up of this:
Too much testing, too much time spent on testing, too much time spent studying up on how to take these tests, and too damned much money being dump into the testing industry. You can test them all you want. Don't mean shit if you aren't investing in the quality of education being offered.
Change anything I beg.
Spoken like the stupid illiterate you are.
BTW. Do you have a job? Doing fucking what? Flipping fucking burgers for the rest of your life?

If I were hiring someone and they used common core math on their competence exam the test would be over then and there, as a failure.

The US may be a Liberal nation now but it was not founded as one. History always comes back around, so think about that.

Agreed. They're not carrots or cell phones but we do need quality controls on our society. We are where we are because we lost those quality controls.
