They tell us every day that thousands of people die each year from Opioid Overdoses.

Just give him a handful and say goodbye......

The Supreme Court ruled 5-4 on Monday that a Missouri man can be executed by lethal injection after he argued that a medical condition would cause him "severe pain" during the procedure. Russell Bucklew, who was convicted of murder, kidnapping and rape, appealed his planned execution, claiming it would violate his Eighth Amendment rights protecting him against "cruel and unusual punishment."

Justice Neil Gorsuch, however, wrote in the court’s opinion that justices “can discern no lawful basis” for blocking Bucklew’s execution.

Bucklew had been convicted in the 1996 kidnapping and rape of his ex-girlfriend, Stephanie Ray, and the murder of Michael Sanders, a neighbor who Ray was staying with at the time. Bucklew's execution was originally scheduled for May 2014.

You know, when lethal injection drugs started to be in short supply, my roomie (she used to work at a hospital), and I started to look at all the different ways a person could die peacefully.

Yes, one of the suggestions was an opiate overdose, but apparently, no doctors are comfortable with that.

But, one of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to put someone to death would be to strap them to a chair, put a gas mask over their face and put them under with ether. Then, when the person is completely passed out, start pumping helium gas into the mask. Helium will replace all the oxygen in their lungs, and it will kill them quick. And, because they are already under because of the ether, they won't feel a thing.

Matter of fact, there are suicide kits out there that use a plastic bag, tubing and a bottle of helium. They say that is one of the easiest ways to leave this world.

The Guillotine, while a bit messy, is relatively painless. Once the spinal cord is severed during decapitation, there literally is nothing left to feel. The drop in blood pressure causes the brain to shut down immediately, similar to fainting. Symptomatically, it is quite similar to cough syncope.

Yeah, but the only problem is the decapitation thing. Relatives of those who are executed would be sure to bitch if they got the body and the head separated.

Like I said..............personally, I like the whole knock 'em out with ether and then letting them breathe helium. And, to tell you the truth, even if you made a whole separate gas chamber for them, it would still be cheaper than anything we have now. I mean, inert gasses aren't all that expensive.

And, death by helium is relatively quick.

The helium suicide method has been used widely, including reportedly by reputable organisations like Dignitas. (Dignitas now uses only a drink of 15 grams of pentobarbital sodium: trade name Nembutal). The helium method is based on the fact that breathing inert gas like helium does not produce any feeling of suffocation, but depletes the body of oxygen, leading to loss of consciousness and death.

Inhalation of 100% pure helium (which is not mixed with oxygen) causes rapid death due to oxygen deprivation (since the helium displaces the oxygen). When breathing pure helium inside a plastic bag, unconsciousness follows after about 5 breaths. In 62 cases where "time to unconsciousness" was reported, the average was 35 seconds (range 10-120 seconds). Death will often follow in about 10 minutes, sometimes as quickly as 5 minutes. Elapsed "time to death" was reported in 108 cases. The average was 13 minutes (range was 2 to 40 minutes).
