(SC) Gov Nikki Haley test fires machine guns; Wont visit crime infested N. Charleston

Just saw on TV our fearless Tea Party Queen, Governor Nikki Haley.......fresh off paying her ethics fines last week..............was at the FN factory that just came to South Carolina. She was video taped test firing an M4, an M240 machine gun, a pistol and what looked to me like a mounted grenade launcher of some type. She boasted about the new business she brought to SC, which is FN gun manufacturing which moved from Connecticut.

Thats great.

BUT........she has yet to visit the City of North Charleston during it's recent violent crime spree, which involves countless murders, including a multiple-victim murder involving several biker gangs from all over the East Coast......and drugged shootouts, armed robberies, rapes......you name it. The city that was named the 7th most dangerous city in the US in 2006 by the FBI is going through a very violent summer.

Staffing at North Charleston PD and the Charleston County Sheriffs Dept are down, and have been for a few years. Crime is spiking.

And the state Governor hasn't made a single gesture.....not even offering the help of the State Police (SLED).......to aid the 3rd largest city in her state that is in the middle of a crime wave.


Go get a PR bump and national election groundwork done shooting maching guns? You betcha!!!!

Go visit the city that is under a rampage of violent crime......some using the very same guns she is promoting? NO CHANCE IN HELL.

THat would require her to (GASP) possibly admit that her vast cuts in state aid to city police departments, her cuts to the South Carolina Dept of Public Safety, her cuts to SLED (who used to send task forces to spiking crime cities), and her cuts to police retirement (in SC, all cops at all levels go through the state-run retirement system)........have caused a negative impact on crime in the state.

And that would be bad for her dreams of a national office.

But dem der pictures of her-a-shootin' and a-blastin dem der guns will!!!

Or as one of my friends so well put it: "Crime in North Charleston isn't the governors problem. She's the governor of the state.......but only the parts where things are going good!"

He was being sarcastic, of course. But, I wouldn't be shocked if she really thinks that.
